I tried Durara! and Kaichou wa Maid-sama! yesterday.

Durara actually isn't too bad. It starts off a bit slowly, but it becomes more interesting in episodes two and three. The technology aspect of the show reminds me strongly of Summer Wars, a movie I love. Sad thing is, the main character isn't very interesting, despite his above-average design. I've just seen too many of his type before. And his friend isn't that much better (despite being voiced my Miyano Mamoru, who I love, as a fan of course ^^) The art and music (ending by Yuya Matsushita, which was the main reason I was motivated into watching this show), and the BGMs are also good. I might be tempted into buying an OST for this series.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama was kind of a letdown for me. In general, I don't watch anime based off of shoujo manga anyway. The only exceptions to this rule were Full Moon wo Sagashite, Fruits Basket, Lovely Complex (which rocks) and Bokura ga Ita. And Kimi ni Todoke, but I never finished the anime version.

The animation is fairly typical of the genre. There are no stunning visuals, because the series doesn't have the criteria that demands them. Quite honestly, it looks like something I could have seen two years ago. The character designs are true to the manga, but...something about the general feel of the characters makes me want to go back to the manga. It just doesn't feel...right. Despite this, I will be watching if the anime ever covers chapters 35+. Just to see Usui...ehehehe ^_^

The seiyuu is passable, but it doesn't make me fall in love with the seiyuu behind the characters, like KimiTodo did (gosh, I love Daisuke Namikawa, he's so awesome). Somehow, listening to Kaichou makes me feel as though I'm listening to a drama CD, much more strongly that KimiTodo ever did.

The music is very...EH. Although I had the same complaint with KimiTodo, at least the opening and ending themes were good. For Kaichou, both ending and opening themes are mediocre. T___T The ending theme was particularly uncreative. Or maybe I've become more snobby because of my Kalafina obsession...

And that's all, really.
I should go watch K-ON! season two. Oh, and catch up on all the anime I missed from last season. But like that's ever going to happen with all the J-Dramas I want to watch, LOL

thoughts, anime
