I do believe the whole field of potential presidential candidates is INCREDIBLY WORRISOME.
Thankfully, the situation has improved somewhat by Herman Cain somewhat-drawing out of the race...for now. In my opinion, he had no business being there. He's completely unqualified AS WELL AS stupid (Ubeki-beki-beki-stan-stan anyone?). During the 2008 election, pundits were making a whole lot fo fuss as to whether Obama had enough experience, BUT WHAT ABOUT THIS GUY, FOX? =_=
Of course, Fox News is the mouthpiece of the GOP, so you can't really expect anything of that lot. In Fox's eyes, a teacher is evil for saying that Santa doesn't exist. SERIOUSLY. I saw the news story on Youtube.
Moving on...
Mitt Romney is just plain unreliable, although his intelligence is kind of a plus (smarter than Cain is considered a plus in this race....how sad.) Michelle Bachmann and Rick Santorum are both in the crazy religious pack...I'm Catholic and I don't know why people even like these two.
And Newt Gingrich. I remember seeing this video on MSNBC that was comparing Gingrich to WINSTON CHURCHILL. LIKE, WTF. He's such a disgusting person. Putting aside the infidelity and the GINORMOUS Tiffany's bill, that lobbying record is INCREDIBLY BAD. He's demonstrated time and time again that he's NOT on the side of the middle class, and yet he's LEADING IN THE POLLS. I really hope this guy gets knocked down.
And did you see him talking about child labour? CAN YOU BELIEVE HIM?! =_= Saying that children should work in the schools as "janitorial assistants", taking away unionized jobs. What a disgusting fellow. If children don't have money so they can do their best in school, the government should HELP them, not tell them to get a job. Isn't that what people pay their taxes for? Yeesh. And I thought the Canadian education system needed work. (It still does though.)
I think the only really unobjectional GOP candidate is Jon Huntsman. He's smart, and he's better than everyone else BY FAR in terms of foreign policy (and he knows Mandarin!), but no one has ever heard of him because the news organizations like to focus on the candidates that tend to say the crazier stuff. Why? Because this brings higher ratings, and rather than focusing on substantive content, the goal of mainstream news organizations is to make MONEY. (I actually researched this in detail as my topic for my Political Science term paper.)
As for Ron Paul, half of what he says is incredibly logical (stopping the war on drugs) and half of it is just as crazy as the others (letting a man without health insurance die, because that's what "freedom" is.) Again, you will RARELY see anyone talking about Ron Paul, because the other candidates are a lot more fun to watch. Or rather, they provide a lot more material for SNL. >:]
But yeah. This is all rather disjointed, because my next lecture is in less than an hour.
