Movies I've watched lately:

The Last Station:
This movie was really, really good. My parents were complaining that the pacing was too slow, but the sets and costumes were absolutely beautiful ♥ Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer were absolutely brilliant ♥.
This movie is basically about the secretary of Leo Tolstoy and what he observed before Tolstoy's death. So interesting, and absolutely wonderful.

Toki wo Kakeru Shojo (Live Action):
I was expecting so much from this movie. And yet, I was so disappointed.

First off, this movie can't even be called "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" anymore, because Akari only travels through time ONCE. And then Akari doesn't even go through that much character development UNLIKE MAKOTO (name of the main character in Hosoda's version). In Hosoda's version, Makoto realizes that time travel actually makes things worse, while in the live action version, Akari only learns that you can't travel alter time because time travelers from the distant future will stop you.

And then Akari learns that the 70's weren't that bad, and learns to like 70's fashion.
And let me say that Akari's dad is a total jerk. I can't stand him. The relationship of Akari's parents makes no sense to me AT ALL.
Although there were quite a few funny moments (like when Akari shows Ryota her cell phone, haha) and the ending was quite sad, this doesn't measure up to Hosoda's version. NEXT!

My Darling is a Foreigner:
I absolutely loved, loved, loved this movie ♥
First off, Inoue Mao. She absolutely shines in this. And Jonathan Sherr is absolutely awesome. I first saw Jonathan Sherr in English Teachers (it's on Youtube and it's incredibly funny).

This movie shined in so many ways for me. I love how Saori's family overcomes their racism towards Caucasian people and appreciate Tony because he's a good person. I love Mao's portrayal of Saori, which completely took me in.

And I love Tony when he talks about the Japanese language. :D Japanese idioms are so fun, right~?
And in between certain parts, there is footage of real interracial couples and they talk about what they like about their relationships and stuff.

Overall, this is a really interesting movie. And I cried near the end. GO WATCH IT!

Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu (Live Action):
Okay...

Inoue Mao is in this as well. And I cried in this as well. And she was excellent in this (I also loved the source work for this. This is such a good manga.) But what was UP with that ENDING??? I mean, there were a lot of moments when Mayu is kind of psycho towards Takuma, but WOW. But despite all of that, this was really well done. The source work was fantastic and both Mao and Okada were excellent in this.
