Manga fangirling, and thoughts on American Idol.

I am officially caught up on Kimi ni Todoke and Kuroshitsuji.
In terms of manga, anyway. I managed to find a site that DIDN'T take the manga down and started reading.
Kimini is LOVE. Kuro is EPIC AWESOMENESS.

Yes, I knew Kazehaya and Sawako were together, but the EYE CANDY. The BEAUTIFUL EYE CANDY. <333333
I really love the mangaka for Kimini, yes~

And Kuro is epicness. Murder mystery, then ZOMBIES. REAL, VICTORIAN ZOMBIES. I am in awe, Toboso-sensei. You rock.

And then I started looking at the latest chapters of Vampire Knight and Skip Beat and realized that I had no idea what was going on. I must be at least 10-15 chapters behind on each. This must be fixed.

Because Matsuri Hino is my IDOL. In terms of the way she draws the characters and clothing and everything.
But then, I admire the styles of a bunch of other mangaka too...
Matsuri Hino, Yana Toboso, Kaoru Mori, Takaya Natsuki, Shiina Karuho, Toma Rei, CLAMP...

Okay, that's enough about that.

For American Idol, all the contestants have finally performed in front of a live studio audience.

The guys were.......not so good. Except for Scotty (the crazy awesome country singer, even though I don't particularly like country) and this one guy who sounds similar to Adam Lambert, for some reason...

Other than that, no one really sticks out from the guys.

As for the girls, there's that one 15 year old that rocks my socks <3 And then there's this one woman who sang "Summertime" and it rocked <3333 Then, I noticed a Carrie Underwood wannabee, and this girl who tried to sing this song by Rihanna and failed because she was "pitchy". Randy's past words, not mine. Actually, I think the girls were more off-key in general than the guys, but the girls are a lot more interesting in terms of vocal technique.

And now, a bit of a rant.

I don't know WHY Idol is so opposed to so-called "Broadway" music. There was this one girl earlier this evening that sang a song that had a sort of jazzy/big band sort of feel, and the judges were like, "I don't know if you're on Broadway, or if you're a recording artist."

LIKE, HELLO. WHAT ABOUT MICHAEL BUBLE???????

I mean, if the girl has talent, she has talent. And she does. But ARGH. I don't know what the judges are thinking, honestly.
It's like, even though AT LEAST three of the girls were off-key, J-LO and Aerosmith dude PRAISED THEM, and Randy was the ONLY JUDGE who called them on their pitch problems.

But then, I guess American Idol isn't a singing competition. It's a "being a performer" competition. At least, that's the sentiment that I got when J-Lo dismissed Randy's criticism of this one girl when Randy noted her pitch problems.

Oh well. I'll keep watching. I have my ones that I cheer for, after all <3
