TM Prompt 319: Friday
Friday nights in Smallville? Blow.
The town isn't really as small as its name, you know (and, yes, Ma, I know it was named after the Small family). There are a lot of farms outside the main urban area, and there's the Luthor mansion of course, but there's still absolutely nothing to do.
I mean, church group? No thanks.
High school football games? Yeah, I'll pass.
Movies at the Talon? Are okay, but they only get one new movie a month and there are only so many times I can watch Meryl Streep.
Of course, I can get more or less anywhere in an hour or so, but Ma and Clark have this whole thing going on about me learning to be grounded, and not just taking off for wild parties.
Still, these days I have a bit of an excuse to go and visit Gotham because Tim and I are, um, going steady. I'm all, "Clark, I couldn't possibly be doing anything bad in Gotham - Batman would kick my ass!" Logic!
Gotham is a pretty depressing city, but hanging out in a billionaire's house rocks. They have all this random stuff: suits of armor, grand pianos, secret passageways (um, X-ray vision comes in handy). And Alfred makes meals that are almost as good as Ma's. It's amazing that Tim and I aren't both about twice the size we are. It's just so good.
