My horse, well technically she's not mine but anyways, just broke a sleigh shaft yesterday.
We were supposed to try her out in front of a sleigh but we never got that far. She had only the shafts behind her as we were teaching her the turns when she panicked and started jumping. She ended up falling on top of the right shaft, which of course snapped in two.
I think maybe the driver took too tight of a turn and that was the reason why she went crazy, but what is done is done, and we can't fix it now. I just hope she didn't get any traumas from this, and maybe one day we'll be able to go by sleigh with her.
Right now were gonna take a break, though, and just focus on other things and hopefully have her forget about the whole mess before we try again. She's only 2,5 years old so there is no hurry. The other horses we taught the same day were both 4yrs so she has time to grow up and think about it :D
She's still my baby girl and I love her, even if she surprised us totally with that. She has been so calm and smart in everything I have done with her that we all kind of expected that it would be smooth sailing with the sleigh. Well, now we know better :D
