Army Criticizes Itself over Iraq

Jun 30, 2008 20:39

Our military had access to nearly three thousand years of written history about the region Iraq and the direct experiences of one of the most brilliant generals in recorded history:  Alexander the Great.  Add to that the success Saddam had as a ruler and it should paint a picture that the region was a powderkeg ready to go off.  Alexander couldn't pacify the region and he did NOT have things such as the Geneva Convention to tie his hands.  Learning from past mistakes means not repeating the conditions that brought them about... America won't be remembered well in Iraq nor will we abroad for our reckless abandonment of three thousand years of history.
