Notes from a small island cubicle

Dear Livejournal friends,

Since at least one of you cares -- you know who you are ;) -- I offer the following summation of my current activities:

I am presently counting down to the end of a week in which I will have worked more than 50 hours at my temp job and 15 hours at my newspaper jobs. Do not weep for me, though. I find overworking myself to be quite exhilarating, really, and my bank account shall be amply rewarded with the fine fruits of overtime pay.

My outlook on life at the moment is that temping is a means of delaying finding a real job, so that I can determine how to viably sustain myself while pursuing my radical left-wing agenda.

And yes, as an English major, I fully appreciate the irony of my ode to money in the first paragraph contrasted with my pursuit of a left-wing agenda in the second. I am a walking contradiction.

For what it's worth, the CDs in my CD player right now are Dar Williams' Mortal City, the Beatles' Rubber Soul, and Simon & Garfunkel's Concert in Central Park.

I will try to write more when I am not amidst a 65-hour work week.
