Komamura had always known that he had not been the most important thing to Tousen. There was his love of what he called justice, the protection of the weak. Komamura had always felt he could support him in that, felt honoured whenever Tousen shared his opinions, seemed to open his heart to him. Having never had any friends or even people who would talk to him without staring, backing away, it was the closest he had ever come to sharing himself.
That Tousen trusted him, Tousen who was blind, made him almost believe that it was just his appearance that kept people away from him, not his personality or his character. Tousen didn't care for him looking like he did, didn't even care for the fact that he wore something that masked his face. With Tousen he felt at ease. With Tousen he felt normal. With Tousen he felt appreciated. Needed even, when Tousen thanked him for listening when he told him about his past. Was it possible not to have felt something more than friendship for the only one who brought those sparks of light to his grey life?
Though Tousen couldn't see him, he could see Tousen. He was easily the most beautiful, gentle creature he had ever encountered. He knew that Tousen would never quite see that he would smile almost when his hand touched his arm. Apart from his blindness, there was also the mask that would be a barrier to his gaze.
A few times he resented this non-seeing, but whenever Tousen would talk to him, that smile on his face, he would forget and smile back, unseen.
That Tousen did not just place justice above him, but Aizen's twisted version of it, he would never be able to entirely forgive.
