Thirty Day meme - Day Seven
Ugh, busy day. I had my academic advising appointment today, so that means I can start picking my classes for next semester. I know I'm taking Pop culture of [whatever decade they're doing next semester] and Film Aesthetics, both of which are required for my major. I also need to decide if I'm going to continue taking French, or if I'm going to pick a minor instead. I like French, but I thinking going for a minor might be easier... If it weren't about grades, it would be French all the way, but I have to think about maintaining my GPA so I don't lose my academic competitiveness grant.
Life choices are hard, man. Let's just get on with the meme, okay?
Day Seven: Your best friend, in great detail.
I don't like the idea of a "best friend"... Even after narrowing it down, I've got four friends who are equally important to me. I've known these guys since high school, and... Well, have you seen that movie Superbad? You know how the two main characters have an almost unhealthy attachment to each other? Yeah, we're kind of like that. I didn't cry at graduation, but I cried at the end of the summer when we all had to go our separate ways. I don't miss being in high school, I miss going to school with them.
Kaylan fits almost every "nerdy gamer" trope you can think of. He's really sarcastic and is completely obsessed with Star Wars. He likes to think he's a jerkass, but he's a lot nicer than he gives himself credit for. He's getting a degree in game programing, and wants to open his own used game/movie/CD store. He also really likes burgers.
Jordan (whom you already know about if you've been following this meme) tends to be the quietest in our group. He's majoring in American history and can name all of the presidents and their respective cabinet members. I think he's read pretty much every book that has ever been written. I also think he's an alien; this might be a little harder to prove. I'm pretty sure I've proven it in the past, but he erased my memories Men in Black style. He likes watermelon and watermelon-flavored candy.
Tom is... an Italian cowboy who sometimes thinks he's black. Sometimes we fight, because he tends to be rather conservative and a bit ethnocentric where I'm more liberal, but we still care about each other. He's got a good heart and he's always there when you're in a pinch. I get the feeling that he would be like an "intimidating dad" if I ever get a boyfriend and introduce him to my friends. Tom... will eat pretty much anything.
Chris... is hard to describe, for some reason. He's really math-smart, and I think he occasionally gets frustrated with Jordan and I, who are more literature/history/artsy-smart. He always seems to get the short end of the stick; he lost a $20,000 scholarship because of a mistake someone in the department of financial aid at his university made, so now he has to work to pay for school. He wants to be an engineer, so I guess he'll be making good money once it's all over. He and his girlfriend have been together for about two years, and I don't see that ending anytime soon even though she's way too hot for him. I'm pretty sure Chris only eats chicken, cheese cake, and spaghetti.
