It was a fairly warm day in Diagon Alley when Harry had to suppress a smile the moment Luna walked into Flourish and Blotts only to inquire after a book that studied the mating habits of Bromberhursts, a creature that, apparently, no one in the wizarding world had ever heard of save for the Lovegoods.
“Hello, Harry,” she said suddenly, as if she knew he was in the bookstore the whole time.
At the appearance of Harry, the clerk kicked up his heels and asked politely what Harry required, only to deflate when Harry requested the same book Luna did.
“I… I’m sorry, Mr Potter. I’m afraid we don’t have books pertaining to Brumbests-“
“Bromberhursts,” Luna helped out kindly.
“Yes, yes. Bromberhursts.”
Luna shrugged lightly before thanking the clerk and exiting the shop with Harry beside her.
“What’s a… Brumhurst?”
“Bromberhursts are a rare orchid that only grows in Troll invested regions.”
“It’s a flower? I remember someone telling me that you and Neville have gone into business together.”
“Yes, we work with plants, you see. He grows them and I arrange them.” She stopped suddenly and smiled at him. “Aren’t you forgetting something, Harry?”
Harry stopped and frowned in confusion. “What?”
She gestured to the book under his arm gracefully. “I wasn’t aware that War Heroes aren’t required to purchase what they want.”
“Bollocks.” Harry blanched at the obvious thievery. “I better go pay for this. See you later, Luna.”
Luna smiled, leant forward and placed her lips on his. Perhaps it was the fact that he was surprised, but his lips parted, which only led to Luna pressing her form against his. The tingle that traipsed up his spine did nothing to diminish the kiss, and gently, he responded.
Once she pulled back, he looked at her, dazed. “What was that for?”
“I just wanted to kiss you, Harry. Have a good day.” With a smile, she Apparated away.
Harry stood there for a moment, wondering exactly what had happened.
