I hope everyone celebrated their New Years well! Did you spend time with those close to you?

My house returned to normal as well, but now I'm stuck with a large excess of fabric. I don't need quite so much...

happy new year~

I was not aware that it was protocol to spend New Years with those I am close to.

Perhaps it's different in some places. I feel that New Year's should be spent with your close friends and family. There's the Novogodnaya Yolka as well.

[ooc: Novogodnaya Yolka is basically their Christmas tree. Communist Russia got all pissy about Christmas celebrations, but the Russian people decided they loved it too much. So the Commies let them have New Years as the winter celebration, and they decorate the Novogodnaya Yolka with candies and fun things. /lolnerd]

It is just the beginning of another year to me. I don't see the point in making a fuss over it.

Novogodnaya Yolka?

I see. Sometimes I feel the same way, when there's no one to celebrate with.

It's a tree that we decorate at this time of year.

Regardless of who I am with, I have always felt that way. What is the point in celebrating specific dates that seemed to have been picked arbitrarily?

What function do these decorations have?

There's a famous saying, "Give them bread and circuses and they will never revolt".

I don't see how either of those could be enough to bring peace. One cannot survive primarily on bread, and circuses are not necessary for survival.

If your people are happy and celebrating, they won't cause you any trouble. It's an old saying, maybe the terms are outdated.

That id not true peace, only manipulation. It is covering the symptoms of the problem instead of dealing with the root of it. Such a tactic cannot bring permanent change, but only temporary relief.

Sometimes relief is a nice thing to have after struggling for so long. Then you can fight with renewed vigour!

Just settling for occasional relief is not enough. Ending warfare would be a far more preferable solution, if not the only one.

You seem to think I'd like continual fighting. I don't want to fight anyone, but to see everyone live well together with me.

If that is the case, then we have an agreement of opinions.

I'm glad we could agree with one another~

I had not thought of the Novogodnaya Yolka...

Strange the things one remembers.

My new year was rather quiet and pleasant, spent with my household. How was yours?

It seemed important to me...

I, too, saw those I care for. Although there were no fireworks, so it seemed quiet.
