Society is Complex
Something that really trips me up is casual contact with other humans. When someone says "hi" or "how ya doin'?" to me when we are walking in opposite directions it always leaves me confused and feeling rude. I can't come up with an answer and get it out of my mouth that quickly. I have been practicing smiling at them and maybe nodding if I can remember to when they do this, but I've got to figure out how to actually respond.
The other one is when we're in a slower-type contact environment, like sitting in a classroom or something, and someone says "How are you?" I have to practice "not much" because I keep giving them an honest answer which I think they find a little scary. I don't mean to, I'm just so used to being honest about whatever's on my mind. >.< Ugh. This is hardest lesson of college. People.
