Starting again

Once again I'm starting the health/exercise/lose weight kick. I guess I never really "end" it, but there are long periods where I don't take it as seriously...But every time I restart, the beginning point is a little better than the previous ones. So, here I am again, at 153 (this morning), and about to do a 10 mile run.

I looked at my last post and laughed. There was no way I was going to make it to the Portland marathon in October. Maybe in 2010. I'm seriously considering Eugene in May 2010, though. It's right before my 32nd birthday and, if I do it, I can say I've done one every year...ha ha, the first was a few weeks after my 30th, and this would be right before my 32nd, so really it's more like two years in between, but whatev.

I'm back on sparkpeople logging food. If I do that I really am more accountable to myself.

I got a new job in August, and have been working there for the last few months. I work in two different offices, depending on the day of the week. One office has a candy habit that I keep partaking in. I'd like to cut that out...but it's difficult...Otherwise, I've been eating pretty healthily, if perhaps too much. 'Cause, yeah, too much whole wheat bread will make just as fat as too many doughnuts! :-) The job requires little or no physical activity, though I try to get out once a day for a short walk...not so much to burn calories as to wake myself up and get some fresh air.

Right now my goals aren't to be too restrictive, just to keep track and take stock. I'm trying to keep my protein intake up 'cause I feel a direct correlation there with my energy levels. I also want to do better with getting more water. In terms of calories I'm aiming for about 1700/day with a bump on long run days ('cause after 10 miles I'm HUNGRY). I'll start my official training calendar for Eugene in a few weeks, which won't change my running too drastically, but it'll make me more regular. I'd like to make yoga a habit, just 15 minutes here and there, and a longer session once a week.

That's about where I am right now. (Oh, and I looked on my friends page...looks like I'm not the only one who hasn't updated in a while. Yep, blogs are definitely dying, sigh.)
