This week's running plan called for stepping it down a notch, which meant a 10-miler today. Ugh. I only managed 6, and that at my long, easy pace, not my, "I just ran 6 miles!" pace. Sigh. And now I'm tired even after 500 mL of caffeine. Which begs the question, "What's up?" I'm not going to contemplate overtraining 'cause I consider what I'm doing just about the minimum to successfully complete my June marathon. But I'm so freakin' tired. I don't eat a lot of protein, but I've always heard that we Americans eat too much, could that be it? I get the lunch schedule at work ahead of time, so I think I'm going to add a boiled egg as a snack on my salad days. Just in case. I take a daily vitamin with iron, so I'm pretty sure it's not that. Work is annoying and the students are stress-inducing, but I work with/through that as best as I can. I hope with a little rest and some proactive food planning I get less tired.
Next Saturday is a 6K race. It's the one of the only organized races here abouts, so I'm definitely going to do it...but I'm also supposed to do 15 miles on Saturday. Current plan is to run well on Saturday, but not all out, then do the 15 on Sunday and take one of my personal days on Monday and sleep in!
I'm on about day ten of 50 for 50 wherein I do 50 of something for 50 days. This 50 is sun salutations/sit-ups/push-ups. I can do any number of each of those as long as they add up to 50. This time around I've started doing in the morning before work to help me wake up a bit, and so that I don't put them off 'til last thing of the day...which I think was helping to keep me awake when I wanted to be asleep! The sun salutations feel so wonderful, but I only do 1-5 of them, depending on how awake I feel. Maybe I'll work up to 5-10 before this 50 is over.
