Between sorting out pics for the upcoming picspam (yes really!), this cherry lollypop, seeing the most sextabulous Franz pics on
slacken_ties, and the following meme I believe I can be thoroughly distracted from what I posted about yesterday.
Oh that, and the fact I had a mpreg dream last night involving the character I created and subsequently managed to get a crush on. It appears my subconsious is creating its own fanfiction.
Actually, it was rather good *and* fitted the plot. Whaddayaknow.
And now, yoinked from
melusinesara,
Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
Tens, then. I have a crazy amount of interests, and this meme has taught me that some of it needs pruning. It's also taught me that I can't count.
Angst
Um, just started and already we're being awkward. Well, I guess interests-wise, I like angst in fiction. I didn't think I did until I realised my writing was full of characters angsting over this that and the over. But I don't really like angst at all in real life, I just feel like a do a lot of it.
Bisexuality
I guess I do a lot of this too.
I remember the day I saw a girl walking through Hebden Bridge (which funnily enough apparently has a bit of a lesbian scene) and thinking, "So I'm *not* a lesbian! I am in fact of the bi nature!" or something perhaps less wordy than that. I had been questioning my sapphic tendencies for a long while - why would I have been hopelessly in love with Gaz Taylor if I was a lesbian?
Anyways, I'm also a confirmed slasher. The only bisexuality I'm not digging is the pretend variety that's for show, I can see it miles off.
Chris Barrie
Oh, must thy explain in a mere paragraph? One viewing of Brittas Empire in 1992 and I thought, 'Ooh, like him." More exposure (steady on) later and I knew it's because he's funny (always helps), intelligent, charming, and a decent bloke.
Oh and - TEH KNEES.
Really, the full version's here:

http://groups.msn.com/mauvealert Duran Duran
Child of the 80s, me. How do I sum up the appeal of the Duran? They've got style, great videos, they know how to have fun, and most of all have a huge offering of classic pop music that oozes sex. My favourite song changes all the time, but I'm always loving Notorious, All She Wants, Electric Barbarella, Wild Boys, and Come Undone. When I was way too young, Simon Le Bon caught my eye, but now I'm a Nick Rhodes groupie.
Freud
Heh heh, Freud *knows* me. My psychology class hated Freud with a vengence. I didn't. Psychoanalysis basically points to the screwed up areas of the mind and that's the bit of psychology I love best. Freud's fun. Okay, so he was obsessed with sex, but hey - he was a Victorian bloke. Go figure.
Harold Ramis
Starting early with the strange crushes, as a child I had an overwhelming love for Egon Spengler. I adored all the Ghostbusters, but for reason Egon made me tick. Smart, a dry sense of humour, 80s hair and a nice line in designer clothing. Yah. Finding out that Egon was really Harold Ramis only fuelled the fire because I loved him in Stripes and Baby Boom (he's like bastard!Egon in that).
The love never dies. He's now a fun director, and is *hilarious* on the Ghostbuster commentaries.
Jimmy Carr
Before I start, this has obviously been floating around on my interests list long before he starred in Every C4 Show Ever.
Jimmy Carr fascinates me. He's potentially offensive, and yet his delivery and smart suitage make the sarkyness charismatic. And he has the most brilliant face. Look at it, it's.....fascinating.
Manchester
Ah, t'is what I call home. Long before and after I lived there. It's like the alternative New Wave cousin of London. Half of it's posh, and half of it's a dump, and boy has it got character. Manchester music is just the best. I present to the jury: Oasis, New Order, The Smiths, Joy Division, Happy Mondays, Take That. Yeah. Manchester's also got Afflecks Palace, the only place truly deserving of my money because it rules. Club gear, goth wear, PVC, hoodies, tie-dye, fancy dress - whatever's your poison.
My two favourite shows ever, Red Dwarf and Cold Feet, were filmed at some time in Manchester. Bonus points.
I also went to Man Met Uni, and narrowly missed the 1996 bomb. So Manchester PWNs me.
My pink Hohner Guitar
Heh, the only interest not shared. Maybe I should have put pink Hohner guitars, but how many exist exactly? It's my guitar. It's a Hohner (Prince's choice apparently). And it's pink. 'Nuff said.
Posh voices
Because my favourite sound is a right ol' plummy voice. It's probably no coincidence that a lot of guys I like speak well-spoken velvety tones.
Robert Bathurst
...which leads on nicely from the above. My first glimpse of Roberto was in Red Dwarf, and it wasn't until I got overtly distressed at him not returning for series VIII that I realised I might be a little fond of him. Robert is, simply put, charming, nice, witty and intelligent. As well as being a talented actor who's easy on the eye :D
And if that's convinced you, toodle over here:
http://robertbathurst.proboards30.com Tattoos
I'm fascinated by tattoos, which probably sounds strange when I haven't got one (despite years spent wearing fake tatts all the time). But I am. I love it when people choose something that means a lot to them, a physical arty representation of who they are.
Todhunter
Yep, I know he lasted but one episode before he got sherbertized. It helps that Red Dwarf's officer is played by Robert Bathurst, of course. What's most fascinating is that we don't learn a lot about him - Rimmer of course has a drunken stab at what Toddy's background was like ("....freely dispensing chilled champagne!") but what this mainly reveals is that Todhunter is everything Rimmer wants to be and isn't, and no doubt reminds him of his brothers too. So when it comes to Todhunter turning up in fanfiction, I love seeing what authors do with him. A common theme seems to be to make him a bit of a bastard, especially if Rimmer's involved. Which makes for, uh, interesting stories....
X-Files (I'm not having a list of 13!)
I remember frantically trying to finish my French homework before this was on. Sky One, Sundays. Ah, the memories. What great characters we've got in Mulder and Scully. Ah, the tension. The trippy plots and kinky dialogue. The crazy Szyergy. Ah, the poster that I went to great lengths to find a copy of.
I'm one of the many fans who loved it in its early series, but joined the WTF? brigade when Mulder left.
Once a Mulder fangirl, always a Mulder fangirl.
