Midterm Hibernation

Jan 30, 2010 11:24

Yup, it's that time of the quarter where I just whole myself up and think nothing but passing the exam and getting a good grade along the way. I can never get used to it no matter what. Anyway, I won't be posting for a while. I might read a couple of journal's on the friend's page and comment but that's about it. To those who are also taking midterms, good luck! ^o^

Ah, before I go, I'll leave you guys with the prize I drew for Isa for winning the Z/A Disney Challenge. Click for full-size image. Note to Isa: I can send you the HD sketch if you want. I sometimes figured that the sketch itself sometimes looks better than it's colored counterpart.

This is Isa's muse and she was a ton of fun. Although I originally thought of making her doing something funny, I did this instead. Something more solemn i guess hahaha (which would explain the silly title I came up with). I assumed her hair color, eye color, and dress color since she doesn't have any originally. Sorry, Isa, if she is colored differently from what you imagined. Her dress ended up with different shades of green bec. it was originally rainbow colored, but it didn't look that nice. I used photoshop to change the colors to green and you got somethings like a multi-green dyed dress, which actually looks nice in its own way. Also, usually when I color sketches, I leave the black sketch lines alone. But this time, I gave them a brown color (using photoshop) because black just really messed up the nice pastel colors I used.

AAAAH. I almost forgot one important detail. If you didn't wonder already, did you notice the somewhat grainy/chalky texture of some of the coloring? I didn't use any traditional medium at all. I used ArtRage and it's an AMAZING software. All the tools are traditional mediums except for the eye dropper and layer tools. It has watercolor, pencil, crayons, chalk, markers, sparkles, oil paint, and couple more i'm not familiar with. It's so dang realistic and so much fun I had a hard time stopping when I first used it. Plus each tool has a bunch of cool settings like thinner, pressure, angle, softness, wetness. It doesn't stop there. I has several different canvas types to work on and there a ton of cool stencils! And, what's even better is that the price is less than $30 to get the software! It's a pretty excellent investment in my opinion. *nod nod*

Ciao!
