About frogs and aliens...possible spoilers ahead!

Two great and exceedingly entertaining movies in one day! This has been one of the best ways to start my break yet!

The "Princess and the Frog" was just as spectacular as I expected it to be. It's a great comeback for Disney and I hope they continue to produce more of these great traditional animations. I don't mind their 3D animations either but i'd like to see more 2D for now. The character death really left me tearful even though I already expected it. The witchdoctor is extremely interesting but I felt he could have done more. However, I do like how he has a true inner fear for the powers that he borrowed. It does make his character more flawed than most villains, which isn't a bad thing at all. Tiana and Charlotte are the cutest and most touching best buds ever. I just want to hug and squish them for a long long time. Charlotte is extremely adorable and I love her interaction with her daddy and everyone else. She's bubbly, chatty, and cheery but not too cheeky nor spoiled (ok maybe spoiled but I could hardly think ill of her.) And, someone already mentioned this but the male main character taking a more sidekick role was actually pretty amusing! I like how he's the near-useless, spoiled, romantic type instead of the usual noble, be-at-your-service type. It makes him much more adorable and much more fun, especially his witty remarks. Tiana is just such a great heroine and I loved how she isn't portrayed as the damsel in distress, just like Mulan, but not for ethnic reasons mind you.

The "Avatar" was just plain AMAZING. I always have this held presumptions that extremely anticipated movies are likely to turn out bad. It's a good thing I'm wrong because I really really enjoyed the movie from beginning to end. The story might seem typical as a science-fiction movie but after watching it for myself, I can see how its own unique charm creates an incredible story. The world for the setting in Avatar was wonderfully designed and given the chance, I would love to visit a place as colorful and as amazing as the one in Avatar, minus the ferocious creatures. LOL. The blue humanoid "alien" race that the humans are trying to bargain with are such an interesting race, carefully designed so they don't seem to unbelievable but with just enough peculiarities to spark interest and awe. And there's more, it seems these blue humanoids have a great respect for the flow and connection of nature. They believe everything is kept in balance and that one is not truly alone when loved ones have passed on. Beautiful story. The main character also has great development throughout the movie, in terms of moral values and love. It just shows you how much war can bring the best and worst of people, sides of people not normally seen during times of peace. In short, I really really adore this movie. I heard there's a game coming out, but I really would likely just try to own the DVD. XD
