218 G-Wing Translation
This is for corpus_yaoi who wanted something to compare her translations to. This is only the first section of this month's issue of the novel, but none the less here it is.
I had a fun time working on this, and depending on my work schedule this week I may or may not continue.

Frozen Teardrop
Chapter Two. Scene One.
Present
The refrigeration capsule’s peephole came into view and I was able to verify the boy’s face, but was perplexed. ‘I have seen this boy somewhere before,’ I thought. Suddenly, I realized he resembled the person named Duo, who eloquently read the essay in the AC-195-AUTUMN file Chang-Laoshi had prepared for me.
I assumed he was the same person, but just to be sure I confirmed with Chang-Laoshi.
“I heard that Princess Aurora is Heero Yuy, but…” I trailed off.
“It is Heero Yuy.” Laoshi replied briefly.
“But in the video I saw before…”
“This is getting jumbled up in your head, but it’s not impossible,” Father Maxwell said as he frowned. “That guy just went right ahead and used my name when he transferred to the Colony Gymnasium!”
I had been over complicating the matter. ‘So “that guy” is Heero Yuy,” I contemplated, ‘So then…’
“Father, you are Duo Maxwell, the Gundam pilot?” I asked, surprised.
“Oh, I didn’t mention? By the way, Chang-Laoshi used to be one too, ya know,” Father replied casually.
“Don’t say unnecessary things,” Laoshi retorted.
“No way…” I breathed aloud.
“Back in the day he’d introduce himself unremittingly; ‘My name is Chang Wufei.’” Father said almost mockingly.
Astonished, I stood speechless with wide eyes.
Three of the Gundam pilots as mentioned in the Earth Sphere History Bank’s classified records were assembled in such a place! I tried to make sense of the scene before me. In the refrigeration capsule was the soon awakening Heero Yuy. The oddly amiable elderly Father was Duo Maxwell. His son, a sassy boy who was intertwined with the other three took the same name, Duo Maxwell. And the boss of my forever-moody self, head of the Preventer Mars Branch Office, Chang-Laoshi, was Chang Wufei.
“Chang-Laoshi, why did you never tell me about this?” I inquired.
“There was no need,” he replied.
My face was still sour, and I kept it that way.
“Now that you know, of what use will it be to you?” Laoshi asked.
“I see your point, but…” I started to say, but then Father whispered to me.
“By the way, he used to speak just like that when we were kids too.”
I tried desperately to refrain from bursting out laughing. The accusation of having an opinionated attitude since he was a child was easy to see, even now as he stood there as a respectable adult.
Back when my mother, Sally Po was his coworker, I wonder how they interacted on their breaks. I cannot imagine. Either way, he, as a young boy, would probably show up in the file sooner or later. Whatever the case, I’d already caught a glimpse of the so called Neo Titanium Woman, currently Earth Sphere President, Dorothy T. Catalonia when she was just two years old.
“Sub-Commander Kathy, have you completed reviewing those files?” Laoshi asked.
“No, not yet,” I replied.
“Make haste! You know too little! If you don’t get with it then you’ll have to be excluded from this mission,” he scolded me.
In order to carry out this ‘Operation Mythos’ I needed to have as much knowledge as the Sleeping Beauty, Heero Yuy. I hastily put on the virtual visors and continued to watch the video file.
I became an onlooker of history in mere seconds. The video from “ZERO” loaded and it continued 2 years after the previous clip. This time Treize Kushrenada was just fourteen years old.

Translation notes:
1. Laoshi （老師） is Mandarin for ‘teacher’ or literally, ‘old master.’ There is the same word in Japanese, but I'll stick with Wufei's exaggerated Chinese-ness. Also, I learned it in Chinese waaaay before I did in Japanese. Old habits die hard.
2. Gymnasium is a type of college prep school found in Europe. In this case it is not the same as the gym where one plays sports.
3. 准佐（じゅんさ） is a rank above major used frequently in anime, but has no actually uses in the real world. Per Deacon Blues’s advice I have used ‘Sub-Commander.’
