I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year!
There have been so many wonderful festive photos here on Live Journal that we are planning to spend next Christmas in Japan! Yay!
Things were a bit more subdued here on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. No snow (it's summer here) or spectacular street displays or even fireworks for New Years' here (I could have driven to Melbourne but that is 1 1/2 hours drive away).
Our council even temporarily shut down our local carnival on New Years Eve with their "No entertainment. No nonsense (No fun) policy".
At least we had a gorgeous huge star on our family Christmas tree.
This all got me wondering how we would have entertained an Arashi member if he were to visit us over the Christmas holidays.
Luckily Matsumoto Jun was here to help us out! Douzo!
1. Where best to first take an idol but the Aussie bush to get up close and personal with our wildlife (Rosebud Conservation Reserve).
I do wish he'd stop wearing those beanies. After this, we decided to remove the plastic. It's summer here, so he was bound to get a bit hot and shiny.
2 Checking out the awesome Christmas light displays in our local area that rival anything in Japan.
I can see he is overawed by my efforts.
3. The main tourist attraction on the Mornington Peninsula are our beaches. The E.P.A may say that we have dubious levels of bacteria in our water, but that doesn't stop the tourists from clogging up our beaches, carparks, roads, cinema, shops and driveways. At least Jun looks happier here at Dromana Beach (that's a Beautiful World towel he's wearing by the way).
4. Getting down and partying with some of the local ladies. Look at those new dance moves! Move over Ohno!
5. Last sausage anyone? Having a good 'ol barbecue on the Dromana foreshore. We all know he loves to cook. but it looks like Jun has been over-indulging a bit on the christmas fare. Where did all those sausages go?
6. After you've experienced the beach, you need to drive up the winding roads of Arthurs Seat to appreciate the view. We used to have a rickety chair lift but it was shut down after a few accidents for reasons of public safety, I was on it once when it broke down; dangling over the mountain for 20 minutes before it was repaired. Luckily we didn't need a fire brigade rescue.
Thrillseeker Jun would have loved it though...That element of triumphing over potential danger. I'm sure he would have trusted in the cables.
7. I told you I had a gorgeous big star on top of our Christmas tree didn't I? Well, here it is....Ahhhhhh.
I was hoping to take Jun to the carnival and the circus but sadly the circus left a few days ago and the carnival was packing up when we went last night.
Well, that's it. I hope you all had fun no matter where you were and thanks to the people who have shared their lovely pictures; you've inspired me to get on an aeroplane & experience the world!
