It's something I have been becoming slowly aware of over the past year or so, but I only first articulated it out loud just a few days ago.
That my mother has this defeatist attitude about life, and automatically insists that she can't do things that I--from the outside--think she's being overly pessimistic about. Now everyone who's been following my journal is snickering at me here because gee, who else has a defeatist attitude--and you are right! And this is where I get it from. I feel like I just cracked my arch-enemy's secret code.
It's a learned behavior.
It can be unlearned.
