(no subject)

okay, wtf self? For a while now I've had so little appetite it's kind of freaky. I woke up an hour ago, had some juice and a cracker, and now I feel half-sick like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner. I've been blaming my ever-increasing inability to swallow the school food on the school food just being bad, but now I don't know what to think. Nothing ever tastes very good anymore.

Also, more Avatar fanart. Prince Zuko is love, what can I say? He's one of those characters who exemplifies a certain human tendency that I've been fascinated with in recent years. That tendency to lash out and become hostile when in pain, to let anger cover the hurt because it's easier in the short run, even though it only makes things worse long-term. But, him being a fictional character, it's not nearly as sad to watch him make that mistake as it was to watch my sister do it while my aunt was sick.

More stealing from fanart100 prompts, this being "beginnings." I have actually contacted a fanart100 comm on DA, though they haven't gotten back to me and I'm not entirely sure if I want them to. We'll see what happens I guess.

This picture bugs me for two reasons. Firstly, the armor just does not click, it feels crooked in some places and flat out wrong in others. This is both unsurprising and depressing, because I always have trouble with armor. Secondly, his hands just look and feel wrong when I glance at them, but then when I look closely to try and find the error, I can't find it. There doesn't seem to be anything actually structurally wrong with them. But they still look bad. That is not fair.

Oh, also, people have said that they think the yellow-ish haze I added at the top, to indicate strong sunlight and also heighten the perspective, seems distracting and takes away from the actually subject. I agree in theory, but like it this way anyway because of my present obsession with creating atmosphere.

On a related note, I tried to make the lines colored instead of black, kind of like Disney does. Well, used to do *angry snarl* But because of the method I use for coloring, this becomes awkward and difficult, and not as attractive as it should be. I have the hand-drawn and scanned lineart as the top layer, set to multiply to make all the empty white transparent, and this works fine for black lines because what multiply does is make overlapping colors darker, but black is already as dark as it gets. But when I use colored lines, then the colors behind make the lines look choppy and unclean. Does anyone out there with superior photoshop knowledge have advice? Or do I just have to re-draw the lines into a clear layer? I really hope not, because not only would that be a huge pain, but I can never make my computer (mouse) drawn lines as clean as I do my hand drawn ones.

EDIT:

New and improved version that I like marginally better.
