Colored version of this pic.

Not a complex coloring job, but instead of putting time into shading and detail, I put it into the atmosphere and color scheme. The softness to signify that the scene is more of a memory or impression than an event. James and Lily are in color with a slightly yellow glow to give an sunny, almost nostalgic feel to them and this period of their lives. The scene behind is in darker grays to make the trouble stand out in contrast, with Sirius a bit darker so he will appear to be the center of the storm, and the blood on his fist in red to draw the eye to it and emphasize the violence. I actually put at least this much thought into most of my coloring now, though I rarely go into detail explaining it. I generally hope it will all speak for itself, but as I am often wrong I feel like mentioning it this time.

There was a time when I was in love with high contrast and dark colors. I don't know why I seem so addicted to dull tones these days; maybe I'm getting old.
