Back in the saddle

I got the tiny bit of glass I ordered in the mail yesterday. Probably the most important one was this wonderfully clear Lauscha glass. I ordered the thicker rods. I found yesterday, (and I don't know why I didn't realize this before) that thick rods are MUCH better for making plunged dot beads than thin ones. When you have a smaller rod, you have to melt a lot of it to get enough to put on the bead, and keeping it in the flame that long makes the glass bubble and boil. With a thicker rod its melts a good amount of glass with less time in the flame. So, you get a bigger dab of clear, beautiful glass that has no soot or scum in it.
What are plunged dot beads?

My plunged dot bead skills are coming back. I made a nice one yesterday (the bead in the pic is an old one.) I was relieved at this, because I sat down to make some beads the other day and couldn't get a decent simple one made for the life of me, let alone a plunged dot one.
Oh yeah, I just had a dream that I made a red dichroic glass pandant. It looked like a skateboard. And I was very proud of my little red skateboard. I kept showing it to everyone. WTF? Also, in the dream I took a class on glasswork and the kiln looked like a ceramic chicken coop. My brain likes to confuse me, and often times dissapoint me.
