"Did you have fun playing treasure hunter?"
The dark voice makes Aqua pause and turn on her heel, instincts screaming for her to be on high alert. Across the Tee pee camp, Vanitas moves steadily down the center path, hand clutching a familiar object. From where she stands, it almost looks like...
An impending sense of dread spikes through her when recognizes what he's carrying. "When did you get that?"
The other lifts the training keyblade almost boredly, as if to say 'what, this?'. "It doesn't seem like he needs this toy..." And Aqua can only watch in horror as he takes it between his hands, and snaps the wooden shaft in two. The resounding crack drives a dagger straight through her heart.
"--Anymore."
She gasps as he tosses it to the side, reaching out as if to catch the halves before they can hit the ground. But it's too late, and all she can do is stare, before she clenches her hand into an angry fist.
"And that means, I don't need a Plan B anymore, either." Vanitas summons his keyblade, holding it above his head in a stance she's come to hate. But she's defeated him once, already, and isn't afraid to face him a second time.
Lips curling back from her teeth, Aqua fixes him with a look of absolute loathing, before she summons her own weapon. "You--!"
She runs for him, and the battle begins. It's fast and grueling, neither side willing to give the other even an inch of leeway. Somehow, though, Aqua manages to get the upper-hand. Vanitas is knocked back with a well-aimed spell, which she immediately follows it up with a hurl of her keyblade--
That flies harmlessly through empty space.
Her eyes widen, before Vanitas re-appears directly behind her. And when she turns, her cheek is met with a vicious back-hand.
"Ah!" Aqua pitches to the side before she can steady herself, bringing her keyblade before her in a desperate attempt to defend herself. But it's of very little use against Vanitas' next move.
The very air around him thickens with a black aura as Darkness rolls upwards and out, stretching like fingers of black smoke. Shadows separate from the mass, darting along the ground faster than Aqua has time to react. She gives a little half-shout, as several Floods appear from the ground at her feet, and instantly wrap themselves around her legs. Stumbling backwards in an attempt to regain her balance, she finds herself well and truly trapped when her back runs directly into the chest of a Bruiser.
There's enough time for her to turn her head, before the thing's reached down and taken hold of her wrists in it's immense hands, yanking her arms upwards. Her keyblade dislodges from her grip, and falls to the ground.
"No!" Unarmed and vulnerable, she kicks at the Floods as more appear, two becoming four becoming six. They all reach onto her, piling beneath her legs until she's completely immobile.
Vanitas strolls leisurely to his prey, and tilts his helmeted face up (it's so surreal that this monster has the same stature as Ven) to her, watching as she struggles to free herself from the Unversed's hold. "I win, Master Aqua." Drawing his weapon back over his head, the masked boy winds back for a final slash. "And now, this is the end for you!"
Aqua continues to struggle for a heartbeat longer, but her expression slowly relaxes with a look of resignation. The sole exception being her gaze, which remains hard and full of quiet animosity. She won't give him the satisfaction of seeing her writhe.
His arm swings, keyblade a blur as it arches through the air. In the last second, she can't help but close her eyes and flinch, expecting to feel the sharp bite of his weapon tearing into her. But it doesn't come... and instead of unforgiving metal, she feels a hand reach out and grasp the front of her shirt. Aqua's eyes flash back open, a startled gasp falling from her lips. What in the worlds--?!
