“Better than my mom’s cooking,” Axel answered honestly. “What was that tangy stuff?”
Riku turned back to the dishes then; Axel raised an eyebrow at the back of his head.
“Tangy stuff?” Riku asked, definitely hedging.
Axel’s eyes narrowed and he took a few steps forward. Without touching Riku, he grabbed the edge of the counter on either side of Riku, effectively pinning him where he was. Axel was pretty sure it wasn’t his imagination when he heard Riku’s breath hitch.
“Yeah, the stuff that tastes tangy.” Riku was still, and didn’t answer, so Axel leaned in closer and tilted his head. “Name?” he asked softly, right into Riku’s ear.
Riku shivered and bit his lip. “Ah, I think that was just lying around, I don’t really-”
“Riku,” Axel growled, “cut the crap. What was it?”
After spending so much time around Riku, Axel should have expected him to not act like a wimp when push came to shove. However, Axel didn’t expect it, and so was surprised when Riku turned around in his arms and met his gaze.
“Paopu fruit,” he said, tone neutral.
Axel frowned, and it took him a moment to remember that paopu fruit was something of a local legend down south a ways; Riku would have grown up with it, if Axel remembered what Roxas and Sora told him correctly. Now, what had the legend been about...?
Thankfully for his uncooperative brain, Riku supplied the answer for him.
“It’s a pretty potent aphrodisiac, and loads less expensive than torlin kerru.”
Axel wrinkled his nose. “Never liked mushrooms anyway,” he muttered.
Riku shrugged, but before he could prolong the, at this point useless, conversation, Axel cut him off with a kiss.
Axel wasn’t sure if it was the paopu or months of pent-up sexual frustration, but he was more eager than skilled when he kissed Riku - an entirely new experience for him.
