Review: Glee

So I recently caught up with and started watching Glee again. Some of you know I stopped watching after that horrible Rocky Horror Picture Show episode that and I couldn't stand the lack of character development. But recently Glee has really picked up the pace and developed into a really good and profound show.

I started watching Glee again after I heard about the Kurt/Blaine kiss. I watched that episode and was blown away by the writing, the character development, and the acting. So I decided to catch up on the other episodes and now I'm finally caught up.

So I officially have ships now in Glee. I love Santana/Brittany, Puckerman/Zizes, Kurt/Blaine, Tina/Mike Chang, and Will/April, and I'm especially happy that most of these pairings are in the show, which usually never happens for me. But the thing I like most about the first three pairings (the first four are in the show) is that the relationships actually bring out important plot elements and character development. Blaine is really much more mature than Kurt and I love that he challenges him, while Kurt helps Blaine be strong and proud of who he is. Puckerman and Zizes both have bad attitudes (but they are so bad ass and funny) but their relationship brings out their good side in almost every instance. And the fact that the show is finally dealing with the Santana/Brittany relationship really makes my day and adds depth to both characters.

Anyway the show and the songs have great. Even the original songs, which I was skeptical about were really good. There were only a couple things I didn't like. I didn't like how being chaste was portrayed in the Sexy episode but the overall message was good, I hated the Justin Bieber episode, and as much as I liked the Born This Way episode--especially how it dealt with mental health problems--but I thought the two hour long episode was unnecessary and could have been better utilized in the Prom episode (WHICH WAS AWESOME!).

All in all I'm glad this show has really picked up and done something with its self. I can't wait for the last two episodes of the season.
