Aloha,

I went to Kaitlyn Somebody's house yesterday because I thought that it was Andy's birthday party or something. I left the Colonial Park diner sometime after midnight after saying my goodbye's to Meghan and Ashley. Ashley and I had just recorded earlier that evening and we showed Meghan and I was going to show Andy, Adriana, and Lisa. I called Adriana to figure out where the house was but it was old friend Marlin who answered and directed me there. I parked and went inside and he disappeared into the night.

I had no idea how big the party was going to be and then I was like oh. Lots of people, drunk people, neat. There was Isiah and Ryan-the only two who hadn't been drinking-standing in the kitchen who I shook hands with first. Isiah used to work at a skateshop that I frequented when I was younger. Ryan was a big metal 8th grader when I was a punk 7th grade, but I haven't really seen him much since then. Joe Dido told me I had missed the -points to the bottle- and then recalled, "oh yeah, you got that boat. It's cool." Joe's funny. Then came Danielle who gave me a hug and returned a half hearted hug. Speaking very loudly turned to Isiah and shouted, "didn't I use your bowl once." I guess she thinks she's cool. We have history and I don't have time. I walked through the house looking for familiar faces. Then I saw Adriana in the bathroom with Lisa and I walked up to her. They were talking and I was tapping Adriana on the shoulder calling her name right next to her but it took awhile for me to get her attention. She brought me over to the stereo to for me to play the CD. I showed Adriana the song and she had her ear up to the speaker. Kaitlyn the hostess staggered over me and said in a very loud voice, "hey, can you take care of her?" pointing at Adriana followed by a loud hispanic boy who introduced himself, but I have forgotten his name. And then Sarah Kim came over and started talking like we didn't know each other, but I guess she's always gone gone gone when I see her. She as telling me that I would love Philly. Adriana still had her ear pressed the speaker and I told Sarah to listen because the good part was coming. Lisa was sitting beside Adriana half listening. About as soon as it was finished we were all rushed downstairs because there were cops, who I saw on my way into the neighborhood. I should have just thought a little more about it when I was getting there, but I was too excited about the recording session and I wanted to share it with someone.

Everyone was moving downstairs and I lost Adriana and Lisa in the mix. There was shouting about the cops. I heard Adriana say party of what she was saying to Lisa, "if everyone's getting in caught ... caught with everyone else." I almost tripped down the stairs. That would have been embarrassing.

Anyway, I found myself in the unfinished half of the basement. My childhood fiend Niem was there in the basement. I saw him in the dark trying to open the basement window in case of a mass exodus. He's an interesting fellow, very good student, athlete, and so on - a stand up African American who likes to get people to say the N word. He turned around and we shook hands. Niem went on to talk to the drunk girls and boys when we were in the basement telling people that they wouldn't have a future if they got arrested. I watched leaning on the washer and dryer. It was funny listening to him tell someone's 8th grader brother that he would go to jail. I called Kelsey and left a long message about the situation and then went to go figure out what was going on. A drunk Lopi came up to me and asked me if I had been drinking. I told her no. Then leaning on my shoulder and putting her head on my cheek asked if I smoked the reefer. I told her no. Then she looked up and said, "you're a good clean boy, Andrew Shiraki. You don't do any of that?" And I told her in a caml voice nodding slowly, "yeah that's about right." Lopi said, "I'm proud of you. You're going to make someone very happy someday, Andrew, some girl is going to be very lucky." Another drunk girl came up to me and shouted, "you play the guitar, I am scared!" I just looked at her and turned around.

I left the unfinished basement area to the wood panelled half. I was trying to see what was up I saw Isiah and Ryan and they asked me if I was trying to get out of there. I told them yes and then Isiah explained how he came to see Kaitlyn but she was paying any attention to him and he'd like to leave but his keys are locked in his car. I thought about it for a second and told him and Ryan to the Brook where one of them lives, so we left. Out the back door we went and around the house to where my car was parked across the street. We got to my car and I said, "fuck." Stupid me had left my CD in Kaitlyn's stereo when we were all going down to the basement. I ran back and got it. It was very cold for being may, very cold.

I went back around the house. The grass was wet and it was starting to make my feet all wet and cold. You know me, always in flip flops. That wasn't very pleasant and it was nice to walk back into the slightly steamy house while Isiah and Ryan waited out back. Walking to the living room to get my cd I realized that I hadn't said goodbye to anyone. The birthday boy came down the stairs but I forgot to say "happy birthday." I had already left in my mind so I don't really remember what we said and I continued on and an intoxicated hispanic person who introduced himself to me earlier in the night ran off with the CD mistaking my CD for his CD and the drunken hostess helped me get it back. That was nice. When I passed the bathroom I saw Adriana and Lisa disappear behind the door and I went out the back and left.

We walked back across the wet lawn to the car and saw Sarah Kim in the car. We stopped and said hello and good by and then rearranged my guitars and equipment in the back so Ryan had a place to sit. The drive to the Brook was quick. I didn't realize it was the apartments across from the mall. We talked politics the whole way and it was nice. Isiah and I talked mostly. I guess the reason I haven't spoken much to Ryan is because he doesn't really speak that much at all. I don't know either of them well at all so I couldn't say. The world goes round. Isiah gave me $20 for taking him home and so I gave him my cd's because I felt bad, but I needed the money. I'll put his band on a show sometime. Anyway, the world still turns. I got home very late and slipped inside and called Kelsey and we tucked eachother in. She had a good night and sounded happy and that makes me happy. She is lovely and I love her.

Today I am going to have dinner with my grandparents, burn CD's for Ashley, and help out at the youth center's art show and I even have money to send out Kelsey's package. Ashley's going to a concert that I wish I could go to, but I can't. Kelsey even said that the live show was amazing. I am getting better about things, and so I know that I shouldn't go because I have responsibilies. My grandpa might be getting surgery soon so I want to hang out with him before he has to do that, but my grandparents just changed plans. Who knows I might end up in Lancaster. I like music and I'd love to go see the show with her. I trust her judgement all the way after last weekend's concert. And I am all smiles when I listen to the songs Ashley and I did last night. I can't wait for you to hear it. I love music.

LOVE,
Andrew
