Title: A Truly Blue Tomorrow 1/6
Pairing: SS501 OT5
Disclaimer: If they were mine, they'd join DBSK in my closet as a man harem.
Summary: Even idols become sad. Yearly anniversaries roll around and emotions begin to falter. Can they work their way out of their sadness together?
He couldn't forget. Nor does he think he should. She was the most important part of his life, and for so long. But she disappeared, and while everyone else has moved on, he stays still, floating in a time capsule filled with her belongings.
"Young Saeng, come out of there," Jungmin yelled, knocking on his door. He only replied, "Shut up! Go away; I don't want to deal with anyone right now." There was silence, and he assumed Jungmin had walked away.
Today was the anniversary of her disappearance. Everyone else who knew her thinks she died, but he knows she's out there. She has to be.
He fiddled with his phone, and the photos that they took so many years ago were still there. She seemed so kind, and yet something horrible happened...
~~Flashback~~
"Min-Hee, what's wrong?" Young Saeng had found his friend sitting near a tree, her head held down so no one could see it. They were about 11, and their friendship was new. Min-Hee turned to him and began to yell, tears free-falling down her face, "They won't ever accept me! Yes, I'm not from here! I lived in the US up until now! Of course I'm bad at Korean! Just leave me alone! You're just like the rest of them I bet! You're just here to pick on me until I cry aren't you?! Well, you and everyone else got their way!"
Young Saeng stood there will Min-Hee finished her rant, and then began to cry loudly and without restraint. He wasn't sure why, but it pulled at his heart, and his stomach twisted up into knots. She was new, he hardly knew her; why is she making him feel this way?
He wasn't sure why, but he sat next to her, and pulled her in close to him. "Hey, it's okay," he said, "I'll make sure they stop bullying you." Although it seemed like something stupid at the time, it began their friendship.
The next day at school, everyone was talking about how "chubby cheeks and the weird newbie" were dating, although he and Min-Hee both knew that that wasn't true. They tried their best to ignore it, but then it finally cracked their facades. "I can't take it anymore," Min-Hee yelled, "I'm so tired of this!" She was crying again, and he hated to see her crying so much. And he knew what he needed to do about it.
He approached the group of popular kids, clenching his fists to the point they were white. The other kids didn't notice, though; they were too busy yelling, "Chubby cheeks like weird girl!" over and over again and he couldn't take it anymore.
So he punched one, square across the face.
Oh, but he got in so much trouble. He was suspended from school for a week, and his parents had to pay the hospital bill for the kid. After all, he broke the kid's jaw.
But he didn't care. All he could think was, 'That's what they get for being mean to Min-Hee. I'll show them. I'll really show them.'
It was the first and last time he had ever hit someone.
~~Flashback end~~
Before he knew it, tears were falling from his eyes, and he quickly wiped them away. What would Min-Hee say, to see him as cowardly as he is now?
His life became something great; he's in SS501, a really great group, but he feels something missing. Young Saeng stood up, and walked outside, to the balcony connected to his room.
He lit a cigarette, and began to smoke. Smoking killed people; he knew that. He just wanted to be with Min-Hee again. Nothing mattered without her. Even though he doesn't know if she's dead or not, he'd rather be dead than be without her for this long.
~~Flashback~~
Young Saeng was so happy, he was practically skipping to school. Today was Min-Hee's birthday, and she turned 16; his age too. But that wasn't the only reason is was special. He was going to ask her out. He told no one his plans, and kept it a secret, and now it was time to reveal what he had planned for months.
It wasn't long before he found her, standing outside the school, where he asked to meet her. He couldn't help but notice how much prettier she had become in the time he knew her, and how she never failed to make his heart flutter. 'Am I going to be able to do this?' he thought to himself, 'I might mess up. Geez, that would be so embarassing.
"Young Saeng," she smiled, and his heart began to beat even faster. He could feel himself blushing, and he pulled out his gift to her, a heart necklace. "Happy Birthday Min-Hee," then, he mustered up the courage, "I hope you would like to go out with me, because I like you. I like you a lot."
"Like, as friends?" Oh no. He REALLY knew how to pick them. "Because I like you as a friend too!" She was smiling, and he was sure his face showed surprise. "Um, you're my friend, yeah. But I really like you. In fact, I think I love you."
That got her attention; her smile faded and her lips formed a small 'o'. But then she broke into a smile again, and said, "I like you a lot, too, Young Saeng. In fact, I think I love you too."
And so their romance began.
~~Flashback end~~
He was brought back from the past when something landed on his shoulder. "Oh shit!" He saw it was bird crap. 'Birds are so stupid,' he thought, 'They really shouldn't exist. Damn.' Now he had to go take a shower.
This was one of the times where he was glad that a bathroom was connected to his room as well. The other members would get so annoying, running back and forth in the middle of the night. He wasn't much of a heavy sleeper anyway, but that pretty much pushed it. He burnt out his cigarette and walked into his room, and eventually into the shower room.
He took his clothes off, and walked into the shower, turning it on and letting the heat stain his body with a sheen of heat. It also made him remember; it was raining the day Min-Hee disappeared.
~~Flashback~~
Young Saeng was so nervous and excited; he was a bundle of emotions all at once. He had been accepted into SM Entertainment, which meant he was going to become a star! He had to tell Min-Hee, he just had to. He quickly called her, and asked her to meet him at the park closest to her house.
It took her a while, but she finally made it. Her hair was a mess, and it was still wet from taking a shower, but he thought she still looked perfect. She looked confused and asked, "What is it? Did something happen?"
Young Saeng couldn't contain his excitement, and he grinned, "I've been accepted into SM! I'm going to be famous!" Her jaw dropped, and she yelled, "Oh, Young Saeng, I'm so excited for her!" She hugged him and began jumping up and down, which seemed pretty awkward, but it was one reason why he liked her. She was awkward, and he found it endearing.
They spent over an hour talking about what this meant at the park, while they were both sitting on swings. Eventually, she asked, "Does this mean we can't be together?" Young Saeng wanted to yell out, 'Of course not! I'll be with you forever and ever!' but the words just couldn't come out.
She took it as a breakup, and she began to cry. "I hope you enjoy being a famous star. Don't forget about me when you are, although I'm sure you will. After all, you probably asked me out just for this moment." With that, she began to run away from Young Saeng. He followed after her, yelling, "No, Min-Hee! Come back! That's not what I meant!"
He kept running until he couldn't anymore, and his knees gave out. He fell to his knees on the sidewalk, and looked down the path where she ran.
He never saw her after that.
~~Flashback end~~
He began crying again. 'I'm so pathetic,' He thought once again, wiping his face and turning off the shower once he was sure the bird's waste was cleaned off.
When he opened the door to his bedroom, clothed in nothing but a towel, he saw that a note had been left on his bed that wasn't there before he took his shower. He made sure his hands were dry, then opened it.
It was her handwriting. He was sure of it.
