Hopefully, this post will work this time. Anyway, onwards!
Bleach Ep 250 I must admit, Kouga has a far more interesting background than most Bleach filler villains. And I'm actually interested to know who the woman in the shadows is. The one bone that I have to pick with this particular episode is that it seems like it's playing fast and loose with timeline, as several hundred years before, it seems like we should at least get a glimpse of the Terrible Duo there *points at icon* Also, the OC captains just piss me off for some reason. But overall, this was a decent episode, although cling to the vain hope that it wont take five frickin' episodes to tell Kouga's story. I mean, please. Don't do filler for filler.
xxxHolic Third Collection I fell out of xxxHolic when I realized that only four episodes were available online. However, recently, I'm getting back into it. So far, I've found the anime to be entertaining, although I'm not sure I approve of all the manga storyline tweaking that goes on, and the pace can be very jerky and episodic. However, the animation quality is fairly good, BISHIES ABOUND, and the English voice acting is pretty consistently decent, although Todd Haberkorn's whiny Watanuki can get slightly grating at times. This collection is particularly nice, with the Night of a Hundred Ghost Stories animated to great effect. :)
Nabari No Ou Season 1 Part 2 This series first eighteen episodes were captivating.
Humor, ninja fighting, vague hints of boylove and shonen-ai, character development all over, decent animation...all of these beat the cons of this show, namely it's poor pacing and constant angstfests. However, in the last quarter, the animation becomes terrible, the pro elements start to fade, or in the case of the Yoite/Miharu OTP, become so syrupy and overbearing that they start to seem more annoying than entertaining, and they scupper the remaining manga storyline thoroughly in favor of being more "conventional". Which is really the death knell for this series. However, the English and Japanese voice acting stays fairly consistent (I have to admit, I cant decide which I like more--Mitsuki Saiga's tense, quiet, angst-king Yoite or Joel McDonald's more emotional, angry portrayal; Brina Palencia rocks as Miharu and has a less annoying edge than Rie Kugumiya) and that is a plus, but the rest of it... *shakes head*
And that's all for this week! I did watch the rest of Twin Peaks and the beginning of the "new" Doctor Who Season One with Christopher Eccelstone. Twin Peaks...just...ugh. I wish the ending hadn't been like it was. It was just so... creepy. Now I have to make my Dad watch Evangelion, in payback for this crime of keeping me awake at night :) Doctor Who was more amusing, thankfully, and now I'm hooked. I'm Netflixing the next volume this week, as well as xxxHolics Fourth and Fifth Collection.
And a vid, as well, for what I listened to this week :)
