Everybody knows the drill :)
Bleach, Episode 249
This episode felt so much like it came from one of the early OVA's that it was almost scary.
I dont have much to say about this ep. The animation was meh, the fight between Ishida and Bon-Bon there was more interesting than the actual plot with Muramasa, and what I wanted to see (more of the group still trapped by Ryujjin Jakka) did not happen. The omake was amusing (although even more amusing was some fansubber's little joke of putting the LAST LINE--the PUNCH LINE-- in Portugese so that I'd have to translate. Yes, amusing indeed. The general jist was something like, "they've been together a long time, haven't they?" but it came out of Babelfish scrambled so....)
(For the record though, the mnaga had an awesome chapter this week. Check it out ;)
Gravitation Episodes 1-3
I'm not usually a fan of shows like these. I like shonen-ai, but I cant really watch it in front of my family because they just dont get it. I watched all of two episodes of Junjou Romantica before I got bored with it. But Gravitation has more than just the guy-on-guy hot love thing going for it. It can be ridiculously amusing, tenderly touching, and the music is EPIC. The characters are well sketched, the humor in some scenes is undeniable, and above all, it's just good fun to watch. I look forward to watching more of this series, and am very pleased with what I see in these first three eps.
xxxHolic Volume 2
I would buy xxxHolic just for the covers.
Seriously, the covers are something else. Exploding with color, rich and deep and very pretty. Something like the series, which I've just gotten back into and cant wait to get farther in both anime and manga.
I enjoyed this volume very, very much. The Night of a Hundred Ghost Stories was delightfully done, and I really appreciate the little flourishes Watanuki got on his character in this volume. The fact that while Himawari was telling ghost stories and thinking of them as just that, stories, Watanuki was thinking to himself "this actually happens. It's not fiction," which is, I think, a very realistic thing for a true psychic such as Watanuki appears to be to say. So yeah--laptop money aside, I am purchasing volume three today because I am just hooked on this series :) And it's only $10.
That's it for this week, folks, as most of my watching energies are tied up in Twin Peaks at the moment.
