Finally got the first disc of the Nabari No Ou Season One Part One collection through Netflix the other day, and thus was able to sit down and watch ep 2 onwards. The basic gist of the series is something like this--
Miharu Rokujou is an apathetic young man with no interest in life who also happens to wield an incredible power that all of the relatively modern ninjas desire to possess. Now, he must train as a ninja to avoid being caught and used by any one of the rival ninja clans. By his side, he has the slightly spastic if endearing ninja-of-a-lost-clan-turned-schoolteacher, Tobari Kumohira; a teenage ninja-in-training and all-around nerd Koichi Aizawa; and a samurai girl known as Raimei Shimuzu.
I expected this to be something like Naruto, but its really not. The characters could use fleshing out--the only ones that really stick out to my mind are Tobari, Yoite, and Yoite's blonde pal (whose name I cant remember--I dont think it was ever clearly stated.) Miharu's slow development, though, is good, and the plot progresses with reasonable thrills and more than a few fights. I
I did have an odd moment when comparing Yoite and Blondie there to Ulqiourria and Grimmjow of Bleach. The parallel is amusing :D
The art is fantastic, very watercolory, and there's definitely some bishonen in there for you girls. (Note to self: Tobari is extremely hot. :D)
Ending verdict 7/10. Check it out. It definitely has entertainment value if nothing else.
