1. Favorite childhood book?

OHMAN. I can't even begin. I read so much when I was younger, because I didn't have cable or internet. HRMMMMM. I was terribly fond of this book called Sirena by Donna Jo Napoli as well as the His Dark Materials series, and some other fantasy books. MAN good times.

2. What are you reading right now?

Stuart: a life backwards, beceause I was so curious after I saw the movie. I'm also supposed to be reading Brave New World for school but ugh I just can't bring myself to read books lately. Feels like I don't have that kind of leisure time.

3. What books do you have on request at the library?

I Am What I Am, John Barrowman's second biography; Never Let Me Go, Kazuo Ishiguro, because I read a summary after seeing the movie posted around; Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, Jeanette Winterson, because that title is AWESOME; and Player One by Douglas Coupland because DOUGLAS COUPLAND!! I have Hey Nostradamus as well, but haven't gotten around to that either. :(

4. Bad book habit?

JUDGING IT? I find myself either loving or hating books quite easily, and if I get sick of it in the first few chapters I'll just not read it. Also I have a baaaad habit of not finishing books and trying to renew them ONLY TO FIND OUT SOMEONE ELSE HAS ALREADY and then I just don't finish. >>;;

5. What do you currently have checked out at the library?
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, Nocturnes by Kazuo Ishiguro, and Stuart: a life backwards by Alexander Masters. REALLY HAVE TO FINISH THEM, I'VE RENEWED THEM TWICE ALREADY!

6. Do you have an e-reader?

Nooo. :( I wanted one, but didn't think it was a worthy purchase, as I prefer actual books. I guess I could use my iPhone though (TINY!).

7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?

I used to read books one by one, and I still do, but if I start to dislike a book, I might start a second and just.. ditch the first haha.

8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog?

BLOG. Well the blog itself doesn't affect my reading, but I read less novels and more fic ever since I discovered LJ and the internet in general. Also, fandom!

9. Least favorite book you read this year (so far?)

Hm. This year so far consists of 25 days. And I only really remember being very disappointed in a book I actually BOUGHT called Spanking Shakespeare. IT SOUNDED INTERESTING AND NOT BECAUSE OF THE TITLE but it was reaaaaaaaally shite. Absolute Brightness was pretty disappointing after how hyped I got from intruige.

10. Favorite book you’ve read this year?

D: HAVEN'T FINISHED ANYTHING THIS YEAR YET! Though I don't think I read much last year, idk, but I really fell in love with this book called I Thought You Were Dead by Pete Nelson, which was amazing and comforting even though something sad happens. I also think I read some Markus Zusak, not The Book Theif, but I Am the Messanger was amaaaaaaazing. And uh. I just almost blabbed about 20 other books so I'll cut this off.

11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone?

I don't really have one, but I am really, REALLY stingy with my reading time.  If something doesn't catch me right away, I won't read it.

12. What is your reading comfort zone?

Um. I tend not to like books that go back into history during a war. I reaally like fantasy sci-fi type books, as well as books that deal with human nature and our fickle issues. Or romances that go in-depth. Like, Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You was SO SO SO amazing I never wanted it to end it resonated peeeeerfectly with me, even though the ending was a little disappointing. And other such books like, Tuesdays With Morrie, and The Little Prince!

13. Can you read on the bus?

GURRRRRRRL I am a reading machine. I can read on planes, on busses, on trains, in cars, and on an iPhone while walking (more difficult but doable).

14. Favorite place to read?

IN BED. Always. It's just comfy and warm. I tend to lay on my sides though, and you know how books don't really read well if you're lying on your left and trying to read the left page. So I turn a lot and sometimes get terrible headaches. BUT STILL.

15. What is your policy on book lending?

I warn people not to wreck my books, or else they have to pay for a new copy. Which, I usually spend on something not book related.

16. Do you ever dog-ear books?

Mmm, only once that I remembered of, for school. It was Heart of Darkness and I hadn't read it yet and I needed to keep track of the important bits I had to discuss as we had to keep a journal. D:

17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books?

NOPE.

18. Not even with text books?

Nope. D: Because I barely use them. I love reading notes left IN though. Oh, I might've doodled shit in high school science textbooks haha.

19. What is your favorite language to read in?

I CAN ONLY READ IN ENGLISH SOB. D: Quite a shame, as language never translates that well.

20. What makes you love a book?

The characterrrrrs. And. IDK. The X-Factor lol. I. read Wicked and tried really hard to like it, but it was so hard because I hated all the other characters aside from Elphaba and Fiyero and I managed to finish it but god! But yeah like I mentioned earlier, books that have a good development of characters so we get to kind of explore the depth of human ~~feelings~~ and such.

21. What will inspire you to recommend a book?

IF I LOVED IT TO BITS. Usually if I want to buy it / already own it.

22. Favorite genre?

Young Adult? Or no. Not anymore. ADULT? ROMANCE? I don't even know brah. I just pick up whatever looks interesting and has an intruiging summary.

23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did?)

Poetry! Is that a genre? But yes, it's always amazing when you do more indepth looks at some of the more beautiful pieces of poetry and it means a lot more, but I could never bring myself to read all those lovely poems on my own. That and plays! More plays!

24. Favorite biography?

Hmmm. Well I've only read Tuesdays with Morrie, and Anything Goes (John Barrowman), I'm pretty sure so. I am not really into biographies except for the silly celebrities I love. But I would have to say Tuesdays > Barrowman (sorry John!).

25. Have you ever read a self-help book?

I. THINK? I think there was a silly one for teenage girls.

26. Favorite cookbook?

OH MAN. I've never read one. Well I tried to read one on Japanese food. But I feel obliged to say Gordan Ramsay because he is pretty awesome.

27. Most inspirational book you’ve read this year (fiction or non-fiction)?

THIS YEAR AGAIN! >:C Well. Hm. No. Last year? Uhhhhh. Also no idea. INSPIRATIONAL. Hrm. I am sure there is a book that once I finished I was like OH MAAAAAAAAN I SHOULD SOMETHING OR OTHER but I really cannot remember. OH. I think there was one. Theories of Relativity by Barbara Haworth-Attard! Though that was probably yeaaaaars ago.

28. Favorite reading snack?

I don't really like snacking while I read! I mean I will read while I eat because I get bored otherwise, but reading is a very involved process that requires focus! And no snacking.

29. Name a case in which hype ruined your reading experience.

I don't think that's ever happened. I remember going back and trying to read Twilight because everyone lauded it but it was as terrible as I remembered it to be. And by going back and remembered, I mean, I had saw the book on the shelves and read the back and cringed.

30. How often do you agree with critics about a book?

I don't really read reviews on a book. I read reviews for movies though. Strange!

31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews?

HM. I feel like sometimes I can be quite cruel with reviews, because I'm kind of a picky reader, but everything is subjective! So I don't feel bad about it, because I always say BUT THAT IS JUST ME, IMO, so yanno.

32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you choose?

OH GOD. IDK. French!? It seems like an amazingly romantic and feel-y~ language which is the kind of book I love most haha.

33. Most intimidating book you’ve ever read?

FREAKING. HEART OF DARKNESS. It was ridiculously hard to read, but after we read it and analysed it to within an inch of its life, it became awesome and meaningful.

34. Most intimidating book you’re too nervous to begin?

Huh. I don't think I've ever been too nervous to begin. I'd just go for it, and then... drop off if it was too difficult. Hasn't happened yet though!

35. Favorite Poet?

e.e. cummings is one of my faaaaaaavourites. And JOHN DONNE because my english teacher beat the love of it into me.

36. How many books do you usually have checked out of the library at any given time?

Four or five. I used to go for like, 15+ but then I'd lose track of time, or a book or two and get painful fines.

37. How often have you returned book to the library unread?

In the rare cases that I take out a book I thought I liked but disliked, not often! In the other case of not having enough time and not being able to renew, more often in the recent years. ;__;

38. Favorite fictional character?

OH GOD WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME. UH, UHHHHHHHH D: it is a toss up between. OH GOD NO I CAN'T. I LOVE THEM ALL. THE LITTLE PRINCE, ALASKA (FROM LOOKING FOR ALASKA THAT AMAZING GIRL) AND PUDGE, AND JAMES FROM SOMEDAY THIS PAIN..., PAUL AND STELLA FROM I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD i fall in love with the characters in all my favorite books i can't even. :CCC

39. Favorite fictional villain?

OH. huh, I don't get a lot of villians in my books. I get people that are villains that I hateeeee, does that make them good? because if i hate them they cannot be my favourite. there are not even many villians in the books i read. I GUESS I DON'T HAVE ONE OF THESE EITHER.

40. Books I’m most likely to bring on vacation?

Something silly and easy to read. OH MAN JUST REMEMBERED ANOTHER BOOK I LOVED. but anyway uh. yeah. I don't want to try and get into a lovely involved book because I probably won't have time to finish reading it and I won't be able to enjoy it to its maximum potential and I Haaaaaaate that because it could've been SO MUCH BETTER.

41. The longest I’ve gone without reading.

Oh man. ANYTHING EVER? Probably about, a week when I was visiting family in the States and I didn't have a laptop/computer there, and I didn't bring a book, before we hit up the library there.

42. Name a book that you could/would not finish.

SO MANY. And it ranges from UGH DNW CANNOT HANDLE like Twilight, or TIMETIMETIME like Catch-22 and Eoin Colfer's addition to the Hitchhiker's Guide 5-part trilogy.

43. What distracts you easily when you’re reading?

SLEEP. Because if I'm seriously into the book, I won't put it down for nothing.

44. Favorite film adaptation of a novel?

Oh. Hm. I don't know if I've liked many novels that have been turned into films. Hitchhiker's Guide, probably! I mean, MARTIN FREEMAN. STEPHEN FRY! ZOOEY DESCHANNEL! Though I really liked the first Princess Diaries, ngl.

45. Most disappointing film adaptation?

Hmmm. I think, because I was so psyched for Golden Compass, I was a little disappointed. It was still pretty good, but didn't feel as vivid as the books did. Also some of the latter HP films god. D:

46. The most money I’ve ever spent in the bookstore at one time?

I think. Possibly $40? I don't like to buy books before reading them, and then I am still cheap and try to get them when theyr'e on sale whenever I wander in to check. MIGHT BREAK THE BANK SOON THOUGH as I was going to buy some of my favourites that I haaad to own until I added too many books and got like $200 ahah.

47. How often do you skim a book before reading it?

Skim as in.. title, cover, summary? ALWAYS. But aside from that, no.

48. What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through?

Hm. Half-way is quite a lot! I think it would have to be some terrible plot failery, extreme character hate, and OH REMEMBERED MORE BOOKS I LIKED, and uh. Time!

49. Do you like to keep your books organized?

I TRIED, D: but then my amount of books overcame the alloted bookcase space so it's like some alphabetical between sections of young adult, even younger adult, and non-fiction and then stuff piled on top.

50. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you’ve read them?

KEEP. As I only buy books I am interested in. Well, some I buy on a whim that I might give away, as they are usually classics.

51. Are there any books you’ve been avoiding?

Mmm. The Girl With Dragon Tattoos, etc. As I've heard they're good but they don't sound all that appealing. Also, The Mortal Instruments series because I have heard good things about that also, but Cassandra Claire! I will just think about Draco and how I never finished his trilogy and how she was a BNF that was accused of plagarism. D:

52. Name a book that made you angry.

WICKED MADE ME SO ANGRY. UGHHHH EVERY CHARACTER IN THAT BOOK. AND UGHH  DOROTHY RAAAAGE! I think that was the worst book I read through because I HAD to know what happened to Elphaba.

53. A book you didn’t expect to like but did?

Mm. I always go for books I think I WILL like so I don't think this has ever happened. OH maybe to Kill a Mockingbird since it started off soooo slow but became AMAZING.

54. A book that you expected to like but didn’t?

Oh, Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom was a little disappointing as I didn't find it was good as his previous works. And as previously stated, Spanking Shakespeare. Ick.

55. Favorite guilt-free, pleasure reading?

Mmmm. Any reading is pleasure reading really! Except from like, textbooks usually. I guess I most enjoy reading fanfiction though? Because, AU'S! and Characters that I LOOOOOVE and are already well established. AND RECS are always good. Also romantic young adult stories hahaha. I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY I LIKE SILLY NOVELS LIKE, HOW THEY MET AND OTHER STORIES OKAY.
