This is the electorate that, a generation ago, gave Brian Mulroney consecutive majority governments. Why wouldn't they entrust their jobs, homes, families and fortunes to a dead-eyed android probe from some hostile alien civilization?

On the plus side, now that he's pissed away $300 million on an unnecessary election that only resulted in the Liberals losing even more of their status as the other national party, we can sit back and snicker at the American election next month. The Yankees are much better at empty spectacles that are supposed to matter even though the soulless, faceless megacorps will still be in control, and they always waste more on fireworks than we do.

And this is why, as with all other times, I shrug and turn my back on the government again until the next election.

People want their vote to count, so they don't tend to vote for anyone outside their comfort zone of Conservative or Liberal. When one party does something they don't like, they pick the other. There is no other option in their mind.

Oakville got tired of the Liberals. As with the rest of the country, they needed their vote to count so they voted for the other guy.

Personally, Harper creeps me out.

I think it's also important to note, as Canadians we are increadably apathetic. There are those of us that care, but there are a large majority of people who sat back and said "meh". To the tune of 41%.
