Thanks for all those who played along with the
movie meme yesterday.
Great guesses all around :)
1. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
The scene near the end of the movie where Vader and Palpatine are watching the construction of the Death Star. To me, this was the best of the Star Wars movies due to emotional impact.
2. Hero
The scene where Jet Li (Nameless) fights Broken Sword. This movie is a cinematic and artistic masterpiece.
3. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide, it's
a killer!
4. Equilibrium
Grammaton Clerics, seekers of those suspected of sense offence. Interesting plot with awesome fight scenes.
5. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Faramir leads the Gondorian charge towards Osgiliath while Pippin sings the haunting tune "Mist and Shadow". It was difficult to choose which movie I liked better out of the three, much less a favorite scene.
6. Guns of Navarone
My favorite WWII movie. I remember watching it as a boy and was hooked.
7. The Professional (a.k.a. Leon, the Professional)
A great movie with a young Natalie Portman giving a top-notch performance
8. Shaolin Soccer
Hilarious! Soccer meets Kung Fu with added Matrix-esque visuals (I haven't seen Kung Fu Shuffle yet...)
9. The 13th Warrior
Bulwyfe from the 13th Warrior. The screen adaption of Michael Crichton's Eaters of the Dead (which was a modern retelling of Beowulf). This is one case where I love the movie more than the book.
10. Highlander
Excellent and original. I still like the first movie better than the rest.
11. Star Trek II - Wrath of Khan
The best out of all the Star Trek movies, hands down!
12. Sneakers
The hacker movie. Blows away other wannabes (Hackers, etc.)
13. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Remus Lupin, a very interesting addition to the Potter-verse. This movie was much darker, yet visually stunning. Great casting. Though I still prefer the book and didn't agree with some of the screenplay adaptions.
14. The Hunt for Red October
Captain Mancuso of the U.S.S. Dallas. The best 'modern' submarine movie. A great adaption of Clancy's book. He sure did his research - this movie was lauded by my fellow submariners (along with classics like Das Boot)
15. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
I was conflicted between this movie, The Breakfast Club, and The Goonies as my favorite 80s movie. Ferris was my hero, though I didn't get away with half as much stuff as he did :)
