I'm back living in Seattle, bitches! I am very happy to be back here. It is definitely a different feeling than when I left. To start off I must discuss what brought me here.
Last year, a few months before August 2009, I was doing some very cool work for a brilliant man. That man offered me a job. Now I knew that times could be rough with this guy as he was pretty cranky and demanding, but I was worried my current job at the time was about to implode and it seemed like an incredible opportunity. 2 months later I officially got the job. 2 months after that my mom died. within 2 months after that this guy was really getting harder and harder to work for and finally crossed a line with me that brought me to the realization that life is too short to work for someone you are growing to no longer respect. I also realized that life is too short to not be with the ones you love. At this point I told my old group that if they wanted me back they could have me. Within a few minutes of that email I had several replies and a phone call all expressing a resounding YES! While the transfer was going through I was discussing all of this with Felix. We were having dinner and it dawned on me that there was nothing left in the tri-cities keeping me there. I originally moved down to take care of my mom and see her through her illness. I made a promise to felix at the time that this was ultimately going to be a temporary situation. I decided that now was the time to begin my search for a new job in seattle.
I began in April and finally landed one by the beginning of august. I only had a few interviews and several jobs that I was surprised I never got the interview for. Oh well. It all worked out and I start my new job tomorrow. I am going to do something a bit different than what I have done in the past which has always been working in a laboratory running instrumentation. Now I am at a desk job where I validate other lab's data. I think this could be a nice stepping stone to doing other things at this company that could prove to be more lucrative. at the very least I am going to enjoy doing something different. It is right in downtown seattle and there's a bus that goes directly there. I am going from putting 26000 miles a year on my car down to less than 4000 (I hope).
so this last weekend felix came down to pasco and we moved me up to seattle. he was super awesome just as he was 7 months ago when we moved me into my new house (i am keeping it and renting it out for now). i am very sore right now. especially since we also had to spend today moving a bunch of stuff into storage.
so now I am sitting here listening to felix sleep in the other room and watching his cat eye my cat (with her one good eye) and wondering where life will take me next.
ps thanks to adrian o'daniel for helping us when we got up here and boo to pete for having to cancel on us unwittingly failing to fall for my trap of helping us.
