FINALLY we got to go back. i have been missing it. when you go from twice a year to a 1.5 year break then it's a bit of a shock. It's funny how when the word first gets whispered to me from felix who hears it whispered to him from lance that it could be in a few days to a few weeks you are going. good thing we went sooner than later as work is going to own me for a weekend sometime this month. i just dont know when.
anyhow it was a wonderful trip! we tried a new place this time called the Barcelo (
http://www.barcelo.com/BarceloHotels/en-GB/Hotels/Mexico/LosCabos/LosCabos/Home). It was freaking gorgeous. it just opened in December of 09! It is new and modern and has a nice modern look. Also they have top shelf liquor instead of whatever the mexican version of monarch is :P
there are a couple of things they need to work on still one of which is their entertainment staff seem out of practice. their shows werent exciting and they didnt seem in synch. the other problem was how they run their restaurants. they have 7 different ones with a different "theme", ie japanese, italian, french, etc. they make you stand in line at the concierge desk to make reservations which takes FOREVER. We took shifts trying the line starting at 10am and it took hours to finally get up there and when we did the only available times for non-buffet places was like 9pm. ok so now i dont know if they just get booked up so solid from the beginning or what, but we set some times that were reasonable and then walked by the ones we couldnt get into that night and saw that they were practically empty! i mean literally there would be a dozen tables sat when there were at least 2-3 dozen that were empty. that was really annoying. i dont want to eat at a buffet the whole freaking time ya know? at least the food was pretty good and had a lot of choices.
the rooms were awesome! we got ocean view suites. the only downside is there was NO privacy in the bathroom from the rest of the room. some might argue this was a bonus but the mini fridges had tecate and tecate-light in them. *burp*
i have no complaints. i got pretty sunburned the first day but thats par for the course for me. it was completely manageable though. the trip was awesome and i got to share it with my good friends and im happy i got to go! maybe it will only be another 6 months til the next trip? *HINT HINT*
