It's the early Okinawa explosion for real, man. Produced by the infamous Hiromasa Ijichi, Hattan scored a few minor hits most notably, SHOOTING STAR, the ultra popular theme song to ultra popular drama L x I x V x E (which starred Eriko and HITOE of SPEED fame). With a solid debut, Hattan released a follow-up album before settling into musical haitus. Surprisingly she released a 60s cover album in 2007 (which I have yet to hear). Autumn Breeze is more like a late 90s whisper: you hear it, you like it but eventually you forget it. To be honest, at the time of its initial release it failed to captivate me in any special way considering how easily it blended in with every other female solo pop act. But looking back on it from a 2008 perspective, it's a pretty keen album. Songs such as mine, Another World and kareshi are catchy as hell and Darlin, Good Morning is sweet in a Splenda sorta way. Avoid Holiday in the Park and you're all set.
