It's been raining non-stop for the past couple of days and its supposed to continue until Tuesday. We are getting hit with three weather systems, and one of them is/was (not sure) Hurricane Tomas. Oh well, at least it isn't snow. I have a love/hate relationship with snow. You see, here in Canada snow is nothing new, and people from the south always tell me how much they would love to have snow. They don't understand why the majority of Canadians hate it so much.
WHen I think about it, I wonder why I always say I hate it. It really isn't the snow so much as it is the cold. I like a little bit of snow. I like the huge white fluffy fluffy snow flakes that fall in December. Right before the holidays.
What I don't like is slush, wet heavy snow, and when the city drags their ass on plowing the streets and sidewalks after a blizzard. Blizzards are ok if they get me out of work/school. haha, Just kidding I actually like going to school, and without work I'd probably have to go to the food bank. (which I refuse to do, because I'm soooo lucky to have family to help me out through difficult times, and the food bank is for the less fortunate. I think)
But, its nice once in a while to stay indoors under the blankets with a hot chocolate, watching Korean or Japanese dramas on my computer. Oooh, now I can on my shiny new macbook. :D
So I do look forward to those days.
Thing is, winter last so damn long. I;ll say we will get our first (real) snowfall. You know, the kind where the snow stays on the ground In December. Maybe the middle of the month? and from then snow lasts until the end of March, or early April. Although lately it's been melting off in March, then we have a big snow storm and we get dumped on again.
Ah, such is the life of an Atlantic Canadian.
I really do love the summer the best. And Spring. And Fall. I guess I dont hate winter, but its my least favorite of the seasons. I dont like the cold But my boyfriend, and some of my friends say they love this time of year. I don't get it, AT ALL. :D But I can understand the feeling of relief when the temperatures drop away from +35c.
Christmas is fun, and yet stressful every year. So there is yet another love/hate relationship with this time of the year. PLus, after the holidays there is NOTHING to look forward to for months! At least in my opinion.
Still. This time of year does have its charm. I do try to enjoy what I can out of it. But I still hate the cold.
