OTP Appreciation post
I've been wanting to do this thing for ages.
I onl have 2 OTPs as of now. I do support other pairings but these two are above the rest. (A) NinoAi and (B) TwinTower.
Of course, I have my references: the shipping haven weibo (I think weibo fans are soooo observant that they can actually report details that other people won't notice!), fuckyeahaimiya, and twintower-love.
The people involved:
A.
Ninomiya Kazunari
This guy is my ichiban (or probably 1.5). Even though there are some WTF moments, I really like his singing and the songs he makes. I can also say that he's a talented actor as well though his appearance boxes his roles oftentimes. He's quite sadistic and sarcastic but he looks adorable. And amazingly, he's already aging! Wow. He likes giving sarcastic remarks to Aiba (I don't know, maybe just for the heck of it?). He's also a complete opposite of his partner who is...

This hyperactive bunny is really like a ball of sunshine! Even though he lacks in the singing department, he does look good dancing and strutting around in magazines (oh so hot, my goodness!). He's not really very bright (ON cam) but he's so adorable that you cannot hate him. He loves animals. He's highly emotional so he easily cries. But I think he's really caring towards the other members and especially to Nino *wink wink*.
B.
Akimoto Sayaka
This woman is my kamioshi, megami, queen, whatever royalty you can call her. She's really talented: she can sing well, act VERY well, and dance well (I admit there are awkward moments in her early years). She can also go strutting around in high fashion magazines in clothes that she will never buy for real (too expensive). She's kind. She acts like a man sometimes but she's really feminine. She acts strong but she's a crybaby. Of course, she complements with...
Miyazawa Sae
This hyperactive girl can look so handsome, cute, and beautiful. She breaks so many hearts... oh wait, LoL. She really adores Sayaka (obviously) so she's like a puppy who follows her partner around. Sometimes, I don't understand her when she speaks to Sayaka in radio shows because she somewhat speaks like a baby. But the innocent way she looks at things is quite refreshing and I like her very much. She's also an energetic dancer and a good leading member.

The beginning:
A.
They met as Juniors, obviously! There was this story that one day, Nino approached Aiba and said, "Let's go home together since we use the same train and stuff." (Okay I invented that dialogue, but it's somewhat like that). So that's the start of their more-than-a-decade fruitful relationship.They were always grouped in the same unit, from being backup dancers, M.A.I.N., and eventually in Arashi. But before that, they were officially called NinoAi combi. Yes, they had an official unit.
Part of the reason why Aiba was in Arashi is because Johnny thought it didn't feel right that Nino was there and Aiba was not (LoL, Johnny's shipping this!). I saw it from a radio show transcript years before but I cannot link it to this now. So first, Johnny felt that Nino was incomplete if Aiba won't be in Arashi, and second, Aiba had an almost-expiring passport (HOLY SHIT, THIS IS DESTINY!). So there, we have a pairing that's growing strong since the beginning. Probably that's also the reason why NinoAi is actually the most popular Arashi pairing in Japan (again, I have a reference but I cannot see it now).
B.
They met in the AKB second gen audition. We get some snippets in where Sayaka immediately noticed "country bumpkin" Sae who was in her school uniform, reading her textbooks, while waiting for the audition. I don't know, probably Sae was also thinking who the hell goes to audition in jersey? LoL But we also hear her commenting that Sayaka's audition song did not give an impact to her until after 7 years (but she can still remember the song! Boohoo...)
Anyway, they were branded as some of the front girls of Team K in the beginning and were named Team K's Twin Towers (which is growing strong until it faced some pairing competitors *ehemsaeyuki* and Sae's transfer to Shanghai). They were once the representatives of Team K (ok, tall lolis in da house to intimidate Team A, yo!) But of course, their red string has been stronger than ever.
Now:
A.
Even though Nino tends to be touchy-feely to everyone, even to other groups. But even before I became an avid supporter of this pairing, I notice that there's something different when the two of them talk to each other. Even the magazine interviews, you can see that Nino was taking care of Aiba (and Aiba gives innocent remarks about Nino that reveals that he reciprocates that). You can also read some interviews where the two really want to spend time with each other. Nino covered "Friendship", which is Aiba's solo. That's not a coincidence. NinoAi is srz bznz. Probably, Nino just doesn't want to say openly that Aiba is his best friend even though he always says he loves staying with him, (WHY SO TSUNDERE?).
KISS? That's why people got batshit crazy when NinoAi kissed in their ~Scenery~ concert. And NHK cameramen had the kiss taken from different angles. It was not in the DVD (DAMMIT!). But all of Japan has seen the love, ayt?
B.
So Sae is in Shanghai... or not? Because I see her in random member posts 89% of the time... and has a long distance relationship with her aikatta. I wonder what they really do? Do they call each other (there's always viber since they have iPhones, but probably Sayaka doesn't know that)? They became the unit queens of Request Hour 2013 (wow, amazing fans). And they still go lovey dovey with each other, in levels that are certainly different from their subtlety before. NO NEED TO BE SUBTLE, GIRLS! YOU SAID YOU'RE ALREADY MARRIED!
KISS? They just did not kiss, they said they're married! Someone bring them to Europe to get married for real!!!!
So yeah, that ends my OTP commentary. It sucks because I planned to write this last year and I just had to finish this and forgot some details. Anyway, I might be wrong, there are more "OTP experts" out there. So these things are just from my observations and the things that I have read.
