After looking over the results of
the poll earlier this week as well as my last couple entries, I came to a couple of interesting conclusions.
For one, it's suddenly become noticable how lazy livejournal as made the general population. People are so used to cluttering their friends' lists that entries or downloads are completely taken for granted and skipped over. That and I've been seeing a bunch of serial mp3 downloaders on LJ who download and could care less where it comes from. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really understand why people add communities/friends if they aren't interested in reading their entries. (At the very least, there are filtering systems available to organize your friends page much in the way I have on my personal journal.) But hey. It's your journal, not mine.
And from reading people's comments, I've been given the impression that there's really nothing more I can do to gain a wider audience outside of spreading the word a little more. As much as I'd love to put up individual track links I don't do so for a few important reasons: I admit, I just really don't have the time. But even if I did, seperating tracks makes people less inclined to hear or enjoy the entire album. It's easy for one bad track to turn someone away completely when sometimes the album as a whole sounds so much more filling. I'm not sure if this would help any, but I certainly wouldn't mind making two .zips per album if the general population finds it easier. (Keeping in mind they'd just be two little packages: you wouldn't need to download anything special to combine and extract them.)
I'm also a little curious, but to the one person who chose "No, I find them elsewhere" on the poll under whether or not my downloads are (generally) exclusive (
_kataomoi_), where are you finding them? I'm not upset or anything, I'm just a little worried if there's an outside source that has been swiping my updates. Granted I'm sure there have been a few reposts to no one's fault elsewhere, but to say my downloads aren't generally unique must mean something I'm not aware of. (I haven't seen Vanilla Mood or Hayasaka Yoshie anywhere else as of yet.) And to the couple people who skip my reviews/descriptions (
ocelotkitten &
sephirothgal), do you feel there's anything I need to improve? Or is it just because you already know about such artists so you find there's no point in reading? Or do you just think descriptions are useless or pointless for a download journal?
I've decided to use the next couple months to test the waters. I will be heading home May 2nd where all give for 12 or so, my CDs are. From that point on, I'll be able to use these resources to hopefully rip and share a better variety of music. Between now and then, I still have a few other great releases up my sleeves I can share. However, if nothing picks up or improves by the time summer rolls around and even after I have access to more music, I think KOI-BUMI will probably be seeing the end of the line.
Thank you for your support everyone. As always, I'm 100% interested in what people's opinions are. I encourage everyone to at any time, feel free to send me an email (mariijane@gmail.com) or leave me any comments. Please share your ideas or recomendations whenever you feel like you'd like to.
