fortune cookies and kntting bugs

I'm a little late, but in answer to yesterday's "Writer's Block" question on LJ:

"What is the strangest advice you've ever received from a fortune cookie?"

A couple of guys came over to work on our floors this morning, leaving my grandmother, dad, and I confined to the downstairs bedrooms. Nearing noon, and still having no access to the kitchen, I offered to go out and buy some chinese take-out for lunch. After enjoying some chicken egg foo young and "three flavor" pan-fried noodles, I reached for my fortune cookie and cracked it open. My fortune fell out and I read:

You've got it, so flaunt it.

... o_O

Yes. Strangest fortune ever.

In other news, the knitting bug has bitten me several times all over because I simply cannot seem to stop knitting! :D Ji-Ae had taught me the most basic knitting back at UCI, but needle-knitting was slow going and I became very bored very quickly. Recently, however, I managed to acquire a knitting loom, more specifically a knifty knitter. One of my friends, Andrew, had given the pink loom to me after watching my slow attempts at knitting a scarf. I would knit to pass the time on campus, waiting for my sister to come out of class. Both Andrew and Kyle would watch me knit and distract me mercilessly. ^^;

Long story short, Andrew surprised me one day by bringing in the loom and giving it to me as a present. I wasn't even sure how one could actually knit on it until I youtube'd a few instructional videos. Excited about the prospect of using a loom to knit, I started on my first project--a scarf, of course--and finished within a mere couple of hours! This was the end result:

Normally, a completed scarf like this would take me weeks on regular needles. This only took me about 3 hours to finish, and it came out beautifully! From that point on, I fell completely in love with my knifty knitter! And as a thank-you gift for introducing me to loom-knitting, I gave the above scarf to Andrew. :)

Since then, I've made a rainbow scarf, a teddy hat, a Gryffindor Pride Scarf, and even this little cutie:

It's Mr. Turtle! Made from yarn leftover from my Gryffindor Pride scarf. And it was all made on the loom, with each project taking no more than four hours to complete. I even made an account on Ravelry ("Mishee"), a knit/crochet community that is just full of amazing patterns that I want to try out.

Obsessed? I suppose you could say I am, just a bit. ^^;
