I love a good story. I really do.
I woke up this morning with all intent to spend the entire day studying. To this hour, I have not cracked a single book open. In fact, I spent most of this morning on
fanfiction.net, perusing through various written pieces. And then I stumbled upon
Firestar9mm's stories, and I was in heaven. Reading her pieces made me giggly and fangirly and all things happy and good. I love love reading good stories...good anything! And she wrote good stories.
Sufficiently cheered, I spent the rest of my day doing housework. Did many loads of laundry, gave the dog a bath, folded clothes, cooked up a salmon dinner, and completed the meal with a swiss chocolate cake for dessert. I had the house all to myself for nearly the whole day, since 2 of my sibs were at school, another at Riverside visiting a friend, and the parents either at work or erranding. It was heaven.
And so endeth my lazy day. The only downside was the fact that I didn't study. And I really really need to study =\ NCLEX in a week! Well, I'll probably cram a bit tonight. I've been trying to do 200 questions a day, for practice...I won't make today's quota, hehe.
Okay, back to LAST Friday. My family received an invitation to
The Magic Castle, an exclusive club located in the heart of Hollywood. Apparently, you can only enter the club through invitation of a member, or being a member yourself. I've never even heard of the Magic Castle until we actually received the invitation from my dad's loan broker-person. Anyway, only persons over 21 were allowed and a formal dress code was strictly enforced, so this immediately excluded my two youngest sisters. Since we were allowed to invite up to 6 people, I decided to take Anthony along to join me, Shereen, and my parents for an evening of food and...magic!
Magic Castle was quite an experience! I wish I had been able to document the event better, but photography was prohibited once inside the "castle" and was strictly enforced. =/ Regardless, we had a lot of fun. The club interior was fairly dark and mysterious--just to enter the "castle," we had to say "Open Sesame!" Once we uttered the password, however, the bookshelf slid away to reveal a portal into the castle. How awesome is that? =)
We explored the castle a bit. There were bars in every floor. Nearly every wall was covered from top to bottom with old posters advertising magic shows, or framed photographs of magicians from long ago. There were paintings, too, of said magicians, and some of them followed you with their eyes as you passed--somewhat creepy, but amusing!
*droooool*
The second floor was the banqet hall, and it was here that we dined. The food was apparently gourmet, since the prices hinted at the idea, but I thought it was just "all right." Dessert was scrumptious, though! We ordered creme brulee, white chocolate and nut bread pudding, and dark chocolate souffle--can you say YUM? I cheated and took a quick photo of the creme brulee before quickly banishing the camera to my purse, haha!
We spent the rest of our evening watching various magic shows as we continued to explore the magic castle. There was at least one show or magician in every room, in addition to the bar...I already mentioned that, didn't I? =3 We ordered cocktails all around (my parents stuck to wine, but Shereen and I sampled theirs in addition to our own drinks, hehe). I don't drink often or in great amounts, but tonight was an exception. All in all, it was a very fun night.

Alright, I'm off to hit the books...and hopefully not get distracted by any more good stories. Not that that's a bad thing, so to speak... ^_^;
