After being at the clinic for eight hours today, I'm reminded of why I never want to get into a career that would involve me having to sit behind a cubicle in front of a computer all day. Don't get me wrong--I freaking love my computer. But today was too too much. =___=;
One good thing about today: I prepare my very first
bento! :] I made a trip to
Mitsuwa for the first time yesterday, our local Japanese food market. And I absolutely loved it! It's like the equivalent of a Japanese Costco. What I loved most about it was the fact that one half of the building was reserved for the actual market while the other half was reserved for a Japanese bookstore! And you know what that means:
Manga heaven! :O But I, unfortunately, couldn't stay to explore it, since I was running a bit on the late side, and I didn't want to be tempted to spend any more money than I needed to. ^^;;
Anyway, back to my lovely bento. :D I woke up extra early this morning to prepare it, but it turned out that I didn't really need to, since it took me a total of only 10 minutes to put all the food in. Most of it consisted of leftovers from meals ago, so it was hardly any effort on my side. I even took pictures of it because I was so proud of how it turned out, lol. Here are a few I took while I was bored at the clinic:
My green bento bag or kinchaku that holds the bento box. In the front, it says "Leaflet tight." Photo taken behind my cubicle.
A picture of my bento during lunch time. The lettering in the front says "Leaflet tight," and right underneath that, "It is so wonderful to be able to maintain your dreams." The typical, non-sensical "Fob" language (as Jane puts it). A little cheesy, but at least the green leaf design makes it cute. ^^;
Open bento! Here are the contents as follows:
Top left: steamed brocolli and cucumber slices
Bottom left: meatball halves and puchi (petite) pudding
Right: Rice, scrambled egg, more meatball halves, and a cucumber garnish
A closeup of the puchi pudding. Thanks to
littleyuzu for pointing out where I would be able to find this lovely dessert. It tastes just like flan! :9
I took my lunchbreak close to 2pm because I was waiting for the lunch room to clear out so that I could eat this yummy project alone (and so that people wouldn't look at me funny while I took pictures of my food, lol). Mid-meal, however, Katie noticed me in the room and came to join me. She immediately set her sights on the bento and was at awe over how cute it was, lol. She kept lifting the little containers and reading the lid, and finally (after asking my permission) whisked the bento box away to show it off to everyone else (Zoe mainly, haha). It was hilarious! I was highly amused. :]
In the end, not only did I have fun making the bento, I had fun eating it, too! I think I'll prepare more bentos from now on. ^_^
Bento news aside, Tuesday was a rather long and tedious day. Katie had me at data entry the whole freaking time. I was bored out of my mind. If I wasn't entering and analyzing data, I was extrapolating them to graphs, or running to the copy machine, or climbing up chairs to reach for files atop towering file cabinets--but that's a story for another day. Thank God I don't have to go to the clinic on Thursdays. It's back to the DeMet lab for me!
