I thank those who offered encouragement at bean_daily. :D
Yes, that smile on my face doesn't mean I was taking it and having it easy.

Had an awesome time at the "Time is Running... TIMEX Run 2009" earlier this morning. How many times did I say time-- only three times! *chokes on the corn*

Am mighty proud of my good pal, Gift, for completing his first half-marathon (21km) and of Miffy for his second half-marathon. And mostly much much love to Miffy for not getting angry when I told him that I forgot to charge my camera and the battery was completely drained. And much much thanks to Miffy's boy scout preparedness for always bringing his phone which has a built-in camera with decent resolution. Will be posting the pics of running lulz within the week. ;D

And wholly cow! I think I set a personal record in this race. Official results are yet to be posted, but based on my playlist, I may have run the 5km (without walking) between 32min to 37min. Really depends on when I left and crossed the starting/finish line in which the almighty chip we had laced in our shoes has the power to decide.

At some point when us 5km runners were heading back with the last 1km, I saw Gift with the other 21km runners (Miffy was already way ahead of him by then). Still wearing the goofy grin on my face over the knowledge of Yay-Only-1km-to-Go(!), I hollered at Gift and waved at him. He smiled and waved back. Later over breakfast, Gift mentioned how I looked like I was having so much fun and that it seemed I wasn't having a hard time. ^_______________^

Of course, I had my own share of aches. Stitches during the first 2.5km, my legs wanting to stop and have a cheeseburger for the greater part of the run, and the pain in my left ribs when I was but a few hundred meters from the finish line and every cell in me was telling me to stop running and start walking already. Sorry, body of mine. Today is a Sunday so the Complaints Department is closed until Monday when I can receive your usual gripes about daily MRT commute and soul-destroying desk slavery. :P

After finishing the race, I walked over to the sidelines to wait for the boys. Wanted to yell at the 5km guy runners who looked more fit and didn't seem injured but crossed the finish line after me-- "Ha! I'm faster than you, bitches!" Just kidding, of course. :P

I'm proud of this, not because I'm athletic (which I will never be), but because this is something I never dreamed of being able to do in a million years. (as a pseudo-vampire who hated sweat & the sun)

Commence my training for the next higher goal-- the 10km. And that training will start with a day of rest and recovery TOMORROW. XD
