Vacation!

My dad has brought me back out to California! I've been waiting for this day for weeks, and it feels wonderful to be here. The flight was different this time, for two reasons. First, it was at 6 AM. Before dawn. Second, it was a connecting flight--Atlanta to Denver to Orange County. I'd never done a connecting flight on my own before, and I can't remember ever doing a pre-dawn flight, so it was a new experience, and an incredibly worrying one for me. I've been freaking out about the connecting jump for days now. Fortunately, it was nowhere near as stressful as I feared! And here come details.

Let me begin by stating that Frontier Airlines is a fantastic company. When Daddy made the initial reservation for me there was a conflict with the return date to Georgia, and he scrambled to fix it, and everything went off without a hitch. But whenever I tried to log in to the website to check my reservation, it wouldn't go through; it took a call to Customer Service to figure out what had happened. They not only explained everything in patient detail to my parents and me, but they did something unexpectedly awesome too. When we told them I was concerned about making the connecting flight and getting my baggage to the right place, the customer service representative volunteered to have someone meet me outside of my first flight and to escort me to the next gate just so I wouldn't have to worry about getting lost! This representative also volunteered to specially tag my luggage so the handlers would know to take extra care with it. And they even said I could qualify for priority boarding! I was so touched by this I was almost moved to tears. And their spectacular service didn't end after we got off the phone! Every crew member made my two flights an absolute joy. I didn't need to employ any of the representative's suggestions this time, but I am grateful they thought of them! If my trip home is just as amazing, then it will be safe to say Frontier has won a loyal customer.

Coming out into the Denver airport I was delighted to discover that my connecting gate was only a few gates away. I was happy to find out I wasn't going to have to run through the airport! I even had time to get myself a little something to snack on before we started boarding. During the second flight I struck up a fun conversation with my seatmate and her daughter and we had a grand old time the entire 2 hours. First flight was rather silent since most everyone was either sleeping or trying to sleep. John Wayne Airport is one of my favorite airports because it is so straightforward and familiar, and I had no trouble finding my bag, which was one of the first ones off the plane.

Just like last time and the time before that Daddy rode the bus system to come get me, and our bus ride back took longer than we'd planned because of a small detour and a decision to take a more roundabout route. Glad to be back in Sunny Southern California! I'm eagerly awaiting our scheduled excursions to Dana Point Harbor, Mission San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Beach, and San Diego!
