I really like that I chose "The Infatuation" as a good name for a jobbing indie band in
Jo's poll. Pulled it right off the top of my head, too. Was wanting a name like the Impressions or the Temptations or the Supremes or the Famous Flames, something to imply that the band had ambition and wasn't simply indie dork boys lost in their humble little weirdnesses, but I also wanted something that a hesitant indie boy would allow himself to feel and believe in, a name that acknowledges the hesitancy while also reaching beyond it - if the name had been as good as the Impressions or the Temptations or the Supremes or the Famous Flames, then for that reason alone the band wouldn't be indie! So The Infatuation would be a name for all the indie boys-girls lost in their infatuations but would still convey the hint that these kids could be the object of the infatuation, not just shuffling kids but powers of magnetic attraction in the big wide world.
So, what does this band sound like?
