I think I will actually order your book now! I've felt bad that I haven't before.

Have you read the Morley book?

It's too late now, since they can't justify sending out any more promo copies, but I thought UGA was going to send you a freebie a couple of summers ago.

I haven't read the Morley. It isn't in the Denver Public Library; of course I can get things through interlibrary loan, except that seems to be screwing up these days. I ordered Luc Sante's Kill All Your Darlings and it registered as "Intransit-Sent" for about three months without ever arriving. Now I've got byebyepride's Deconstruction and Democracy in the hamper, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I thought so too! Alas, they never did. I suppose this way you'll at least get a few cents more in royalty payments?

Not sure that any of it will go to me at this point: right now I'm about $350 ahead, in that I got paid on the basis of having sold approximately 1,250 at about a dollar a copy, whereas with so many returns the real number sold so far is only around 900 (I'm not counting hardcover, where I have to sell something like 500 before I start getting any royalties). So getting credited for about a quarter a copy through the sale, the book would have to move something like another 1,400 units before I'd see any pennies pouring in. Obviously this isn't going to happen. But the press has treated me well, so they deserve the money, and a spurt of sales would make them more likely to say yes to any further proposals of mine.
