Trying to drum up interest in Mark's UK rockwrite anthology (which needs to happen, Kickstarter here, quick, only 3 days left) by reengaging controversies from last year's Freaky Trigger thread on the Overground/Underground conference. you asked in yr previous post where a good place to start w/morley is and i didn't get round to answering

the answer is this piece! this is a totemic piece for me AND for tom (indeed it was my enthusing abt it on rockcritics.com that caused tom to contact me and tell me about freaky trigger and ilx)

does PM ever get closer, in terms of setting out a "genuine critique" -- i suspect not, i think he continues (to this day) to circle something, responding to where he's pulled (back and forth across whatever it is) and step back and out and explore what he's describing/loving/hating?
