Still not much shaking up the charts, but at least we score a hat trick this week, three songs coincidentally of a piece, and three reviews to match.
T.I. ft. Eminem "All She Wrote": "Goodnight, it's over with, that's all she wrote." T.I. declares victory over competitors, Eminem declares the same over emotional entanglements, and all along the repetitive, unyielding little guitar riff knows thoroughly what our untrustworthy narrators won't cop to: that this is an extremely sad song. Haunting. TICK.
Diddy - Dirty Money ft. Skylar Grey "Coming Home": Pretty and poignant singing from Skylar, the song trying to march to the happy domestic ending promised by the chorus while the verses present mixups and disappointment within the family. A subtle song, and quite good. TICK.
Jason Aldean "My Kinda Party": Aldean's never been a live wire, and as you'd expect, the lyrics rather doggedly wave signifiers ("my kinda party" means "our kinda party" means "let me detail what Southern people should be required to value") rather than telling a story - the real story here being how hard the loud Southern guitars push, this track being more work than fun but it delivers the brawn. TICK.
